Synthesis Magazine (http://www.synthesis.net) gave the new Matchbook Romance (http://www.absolutepunk.net/matchbookromance) album, Voices, an 8/10. They drew comparisons to Muse and Thrice's Vheissu. This month's issue of the magazine also contains an article/interview with the band on some of the themes behind the new album. Good read, I'm actually really looking forward to this release now.

i think this is the first release of 2006 that I'm looking forward to, i think it will be a big improvement over stories and alibis.

I am by no means a Matchbook Romance fan, but I really enjoy the song "Monsters", really took me by surprise. I might have to give the rest of their new stuff a chance.

That's exciting. I may actually get this, even though I thought Stories and Alibis was mostly crap.

P.S. I ripped this avatar off Jason, anybody who knows how want to design me a rad one of my own? Maybe throw in some colors?
I really wanna hear this album, I didn't like Monsters at first, but it grew on me.

i'm really excited to hear this. everything i've heard has been favorable so far.
Hmmm interesting. I'll check it out
but keep in mind, AP compared BOATS to Deja and Clarity, and although it was a good record, it wasnt nearly as good as those two

even with that, why is alternative press brought into discussion?

you have scouts honor in your sig. awesome.
I've been pretty excited for this for awhile, especially the new songs they played in October. February seems so far away.

it makes no sense.AP made BOATS sound like something huge, and they are hoping this magazing didn't do that same with Voices.

I'm on the same boat as you are, man. I didn't care for Stories and Alibis at all, yet love "Monsters." Also, if they're comparing the new album to Thrice's Vheissu and an amazing band like Muse...I think I'm going to end up loving this album...

sounds like it should be a huge piece of shit. but i'm just saying that because everything they've ever done, even before the name change, has been mediocre and, dare i say, generic. and the new shit sounds even worse. i guess i'm biased.

I love you for knowing that
It's so good. I think the people who give it a chance and listen are really going to like it. "Goody, Two Shoes" and "Surrender" are GREAT songs.
Oh, and in response to the title of this news post, I totally remember when "The Greatest Fall (of All Time)" won King of the Hill like 384790 times, haha.

I used to like them a while ago, like with the original EP stuff, but when someone name drops MUSE in the reviews, I'm curious, MUSE fucking owns.
Even though they sounded like shit when they played the new stuff live at Warped.
