So I've been watching all the movies I got for Christmas and had an idea. Of the Top 20 highest rated movies on IMDb, how many of them have you seen?

I'm making a poll for it, so just sit tight and wait for it to show up, should only be a minute or two.

And if you've seen none of them, say so, and shame on you.

Citizen Kane was actually number 21 but AFI has it as the greatest movie of all time so I figured I'd take the liberty of putting it ahead of a lesser movie.

Make that all of them. Just saw One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest the other week. About 5 or 6 came from my film class though.

That list is lacking Taxi Driver, Chinatown, and a lot of 70's movies.

Citizen Kane definitely isn't my top movie of all time, and wouldn't consider it better than a few movies on the IMDB list.

It may have started a lot of the techniques, but it has been bested in many ways

I can't believe the fucking LOTR movies are on there. That's horrible.

I've seen 5 of those: The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Shawshank Redemption (about 15 times, i LOVE this movie), The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and of course, Pulp Fiction

Yeah, LOTR is good, but I would not call them greatest of all time, its a bit foolish.

The Shawshank Redemption however, is amazing. Morgan Freeman as always is amazing, but Tim Robbins is also excellent. So many great one-liners.

It's not the actual movies that people love. It's the fact that Peter Jackson and his crew were able to get all three movies done in three consecutive years. Think how hard it must be to direct three good movies in three years in a row and all of them are close to 3 and a half hours long.

I've seen 15 of the 20. All besides Seven Samurai, Rear Window, City of God, Casablanca and Citizen Kane, and I personally believe the LotR trilogy belongs on there, that is epic filmmaking at it's best.

I love Chinatown and a lot of the other great 70's movies, namely Deer Hunter, but I don't think they belong in my all time top 20 either. I'd put some 60's films on there (namely Butch Cassidy), but I'm not sure about what else. Man I wonder what my top 20 would look like.

I agree on the LOTR issue...just because it's a recent release shouldn't take away from what it actually was which was amazing.

So few have seen City Of God? Strange.

It's because of the subtitles. And it's a shame too because if this movie was in english and didn't have subtitles, I think it would be regarded as a classic for a lot of people. The cinematography and story are simply amazing.

I'm gonna say the godfather part two is better. And I wan't to see city of god. Everyone's saying it's great and it seems like on of those riveting, gritty dramas that just blow you away.
