Which album should I get into this band with? Yes, I know they only have two. I've heard 'Nothing Ever Happened' and really love it. Also, discuss the band at will.

A) Get Cryptograms first.
B) The best live band I've ever seen.
C) Download the Atlas Sound virtual 7"s http://deerhuntertheband.blogspot.com/

You are a good man, ___________. I am really stoked on the Deacon/Deerhunter/No Age tour, although I guarantee it will skip Arizona.

Tyler. ;-)

Yeah, I really hope it comes to STL. All the good tours go to Kansas City. Sucks.

I'm just interested in the set-up, like on the last tour Deacon did like this, the bands just played one song at a time, then it went to the next band, so it might be hard to see all the bands/whatever, but still, should be great

Bump.

I didn't know whether to start a new thread or not, so I just posted in here. Anyways, has anyone else listened to the leak of Logos? It's probably my second favorite album this year, behind Bitte Orca.

Same here. It's odd how much shit they get around here considering how truly unwarranted it is.

It's in my top 5, for sure. I really love it. It achieves a better balance between ambient and pop than Let the Blind did.

I haven't checked it out yet but people have told me it's a lot poppier than Let the Blind, which I guess can be a good thing. Walkabout is a jam

You can't be serious. I saw them open for NIN last year... and almost fell asleep. They drained the energy from the room.
Luckily Trent & co. was there to wake everyone up after they went off :-)

Deerhunter are known for their intense live performances. Paraphrasing, Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs called it an "almost religious experience". Bradford has performed on stage with fake blood smeared over his face and hands.

I just love how gorgeously tropical it is. It reminds me a lot of High Places and a lot of the music coming out of Sweden right now.

Four? Are you counting Weird Era Cont. as it's own album?

Holy Fuck is the best live band ever period.

But I really like Deerhunter. Haven't heard new Atlas Sound yet. Should get on that.

Haha Rachel Ray hosted some party or event last year and had Holy Fuck perform there. She's one hip broad.

Kind of a bummer that they're going on hiatus, although they did the same thing in 2007 and came back with a great album so maybe that'll happen again.

Caught Atlas Sound the other night, really great live, Bradford is just an all around good guy.

Deerhunter are my favourite band who exist now and may be my favourite band ever. I don't think there is another band who "mean" as much to me, as well as just making some of the best music I've heard. Fantasic group.

The Daytrotter sessions are pretty good.

Everything Bradford touches is golden. I've been listening to a lot of Deerhunter/Atlas Sound lately. I love the diversity of his catalog, it allows me to go on BCox binges for weeks at a time.

What genre are they? I always get mixed up with deerhunter, The Dear Hunter, Deer and the Headlights, and the FBTMOF song My (fucking) Deer Hunter.

the show was great. they did play a couple new songs. sounds like more or less the same style as Microcastle. Kurt Vile opened too that was cool.

Did anyone see them at the Royale Boston last Friday? I was so bummed I couldn't make it out that night. Sadly haven't seen these guys live or that venue yet.

No but I saw them the day after in Northampton.

One interesting thing is that Lockett takes the lead vocals on one of the new songs.

Cuddleworthy

MattDennis

Yeah I completely forgot they were playing MA again the next day. I'm not too surprised by Lockett though. He contributed a couple really great songs to Microcastle, and his solo stuff is pretty solid too. I saw a live vid for one of his songs on the new album (Fountain Stairs), it seemed rather straightforward by their standards, had a bit of a 90's vibe to it. I love their ability to succeed in so many different styles.

EDIT: Turns out they will be playing Boston again on October 16th, this time with Real Estate.

He did do the vocals on 'Agoraphobia', so it's not that out of sorts.

Man, this album's really inconsistent, quality-wise. Earthquake, Don't Cry and especially Helicopter are really good. The rest fluxuates between mildly amusing and boring. This is my first exposure to the band (with the exception of the first Atlas Sound album). Off the strength of those three songs, I kinda want to check out the rest of the stuff.

Cuddleworthy
09/18/10, 08:34 PM

kearn1tm
09/18/10, 08:39 PM
Nope. I'd never really listened to them. Ever. You can only hear so much stuff, I guess. Once Helicopter hit the blogs, I eventually heard it, liked it, grabbed the leak and dug it.

Cuddleworthy
09/18/10, 08:48 PM
