Prefer...? QT, with the exception of Kill Bill he's never made a movie i didn't like or at least grew on me. Kubrick was more talented though.

Yeah, prefer. I think most people will agree that Kubrick was more talented, it's just a question about which movies you like more.

Both are very unique film makers. I dunno, Bro.

It's hard to actually compare the two. Apples and oranges.

As for which I prefer, Kubrick I guess. I like stuff by both but neither are really among my absolute favourite directors.

I prefer Tarantino. Tough choice though.

Kubrick wins for me solely because of Strangelove, one of my favorite movies ever.

I picked Stan the man and I haven't even seen Dr. Strangelove, Lolita, Spartacus, or Eyes Wide Shut. They're on my to-do list.
However, 2001, Clockwork, Full Metal Jacket, and The Shining are some of my all-time favorite movies.

Kubrick without a doubt

Both are great, but I had to go with Tarantino. I enjoy Pulp Fiction more than any film that Kubrick put out. Kubrick was a better director though.

What a joke. Kubrick by miles. Of course Barry Lyndon isn't mentioned

definitely going with kubrick on this one.

i was considering a hitchcock v. kubrick thread awhile back... that would be a bit more of a difficult decision for me... i'd have to go with hitchcock i think

although i really like Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange...and also enjoyed the Shining..

I am a gigantic Tarantino Nut-Hugger, and has to chose him.

both could learn a thing or two from Uwe Boll though....not sure why he wasnt included.

It's not necessarily a best directors poll, I just picked two fairly popular yet controversial directors to make a poll about.

Uwe Boll is so visionary that not even hallucinogenic drugs can reproduce what he sees.

It's terribly hard, since the two are some of my favorite directors that are/were out there. But Kubrick wins for is terrifying use of "Singin' in the Rain" in A Clockwork Orange. And to quote someone on IMDB:
"2001 isn't just a film. It's a religious experience."

I prefer to watch Tarantino, but I recognize that Kubrick is the better director, by far.

Kubrick movies are visual masterpieces and epic movies in thier scale, he changed the way movies are made with 2001

Tarantino is a great story teller with even better dialoge

Both are my favorite but right now I feel that Kubrick's body of work surpasses any director, while Tarantino still has some work to do

So, Kubrick

Kubrick. Very hard decision for me though.

Kubrick is probably my biggest director shame; I have yet to see Dr. Strangelove, Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Lyndon, Lolita, Spartacus OR Paths of Glory. However, even if I had, I'm 99% sure I still would've picked Tarantino, as he is my favorite director of all time. I have seen every one of his films at least five times, Death Proof and Pulp Fiction at least ten.

I like Tarantino generally, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are some of my favorite movies, but I don't see how either one of those films can hold a candle to Dr. Strangelove or even The Shining.

Really? To be fair I've only seen four of his films (The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange and 2001) but I'd put the Shining last by a mile. I'd also put it behind Tarantino's weakest film, Jackie Brown.

I'd agree with you about The Shining being ranked towards the bottom amongst Kubrick's films, but even then I find it to be more skillfully done than a lot of Tarantino's catalog. I just think Kubrick was a more talented director...not to sell QT short or anything, I mean the guy made Pulp Fiction, but I don't think he had the same mastery and finesse as Kubrick.

Eyes wide shut was awful I'd put the shining close to the top with his most under rated movie Barry Lyndon(my fav)

I'm very depressed, I'm going to be in Chicago this weekend, but the Godard double feature (Made in U.S.A./2 or 3 Things I Know About Her) at the Siskel Film Center ends today :-(.

Kubrick yes, Tarantino hasn't been around nearly long enough to make that claim.

Kubrick is brilliant but I'm sorry I can't watch his shit more than two or three times. I get bored with him once I see it. But I still love it. If that makes sense?

I love every Tarantino movie outside Jackie Brown. I've watched them all multiple times and are a few are some of my favorite movies. Replay value is key for me.

How long you've been around doesn't very much matter when the quality of your body of work is as high as his.
