So this site is called "Absolute Punk," but I mostly fail to find any actual punk on here. Lets get in touch with the roots of the shit we hear today.
Lets get some reqs flowing.
So lately I've been big into Swing Kids and Indian Summer. Since I live on the other side of the country from where these guys started it, what kind of stuff is there out there that sounds like them? I came across the A Food Not Bombs Benefit EP (btw if anyone's interested about that, PM me, has a sweet different version of Disease by Swing Kids) and found a few bands of the similar sound, but I'm looking for different stuff.
Also, I'm into hardcore, born and raised. So if theres anyone looking into that kinda stuff talk to me for some good music. Hit me with reqs that I may not have yet too.

Damn, I can hit you with a bunch of actual emo/screamo/hardcore after 1995, but from that time period, Im only familiar with the heavy hitters (most of which you've got in your poll).

I'm just talkin' general years, you know what I mean. Give me em anyways.

I'm really into Drive Like Jehu, Indian Summer, and Cap'n Jazz. I'm definitely going to check out the others in the poll.
If you haven't checked them out yet you should listen to the new Japandroids record. There's a very Cap'n Jazz aspect to it.

Japanoids, a new one to me! Gracias, I'll check it out.

I enjoy what I've heard of Drive Like Jehu, not really familiar with the others
I'm in basically the same boat as SickOfStars. Most of my familiarity with that scene is big names like Sunny Day Real Estate and Fugazi.
Otherwise... Hm. Nomeansno, Texas Is the Reason, Christie Front Drive, Lifetime, The Promise Ring, Small Brown Bike?

i wouldn't have put cap'n jazz down as 'under appreciated' since they're the go to obscure band for people on this site.
obviously i think everyone of the bands listed is better than the bullshit everyone here talks about.

I haven't delved much into it, I mainly just listen to some of the more known bands, like Orchid, Pg.99, and Cap'n Jazz. I also listen to some I Hate Myself.
most underappreciated? no idea. i like cap'n jazz the most, though.

Emo is not punk. Emo fans are not punk. Old school Hardcore is acceptable. But new hardcore sucks. It's not Hardcore.
