i dug it. sorta reminded me in ways of the catcher in the rye, probably because it says on the back 'the next catcher in the rye' or something along those lines.

it wasn't too bad. if you liked that book, you'll probably like running with scissors.

It was a good book, but after reading all of Eggers' works, 'Perks' seemed so juvenile.

Woah, those two books are nothing alike in my opinion. I loved Running With Scissors and thought Perks was just okay. I don't understand your recommendation, though.

Ha, sorry I didn't mean to jump down your throat or anything. They just have two totally different themes, and lots of people that I know enjoyed Perks would be uncomfortable with a lot of the subject matter in Running With Scissors. Maybe it's just the people I know, most of them are pretty immature. It's a good recommendation, I just wasn't sure what the correlation between the two books was. Sorry if I sounded rude!

Running With Scissors is a memoir about the author Augusten Burroughs' childhood. And believe me, half of the stuff you won't believe is true. Look it up on Amazon, the description there is better than one I could ever give. But Burroughs is a fantastic author, he reminds me of David Sedaris, but with darker material. He also wrote Dry, which is also a fantastic book. I'm planning on reading his other ones. Check it out, it's a great book.

Haven't read running with scissors, but David Sedaris, I love him! I've only read Dress Your Family in Cordurouy and Denim, and am currently reading Naked. But from what I've read, I love him.

I love David Sedaris, he is one of my favorite authors. But if you think Sedaris had a weird childhood with a crazy family, wait until you read Burroughs' books. You should check him out.

i think it is a pretty overrated book. kids say its their favorite book because its the only one they have ever read. it just seems its every high school kids favorite book and i wish they would look at some other options

I actually loved it. It may not be the most articulate piece of literature but it's an amazing read in my opinion.
