I think twitter, facebook, myspace, flickr, etc just need to die. They are all way too addicting. I only use facebook because I know if I sign up for another site, I will never see the sun again.

see, unlike facebook/myspace.....twitter simply doesnt offer anything unique to the world wide web.
Facebookstatus.com? Your AIM Away Message.com? myspace.com/insertbandnametoseerecentnews? Like, I dont see a scenario where you surf the web and you shoot right to Twitter, rather than something like facebook, which offers the same benefits of twitter and more. I remember signing up to facebook five years ago, and spending lots of time trying to find high school classmates that I hadnt seen in a while...and was like COOL! When I recently signed up for twitter, i made a page...and didnt know what else to do? I saw some of my friends updates and thought, ummm thats neat? i guess? I just dont see the addicting point to twitter.
I dont see facebook so much as a fad because when it started, the initial intentions were genius and useful (see what your semi-friends from high school or up to.....or try and keep in touch with people from high school while you're away at college). GOOD IDEA! Now, recently facebook has evolved to something more myspaceish....but facebook has become the central forum of the web so much more than myspace has, or twitter ever will.

and the power & popularity of myspace and facebook has lasted for about 5 years.
myspace has become the central forum for bands and artists
facebook has become the central forum for contact and keeping in touch with friends.
neither of these sites are losing their popularity (although the initial boom of myspace has dwindled, but it has picked up popularity in other scenarios)

MySpace's peak years lasted about three years.

MySpace's peak years lasted about three years.
but like i said.... although its not used as a social networking site as much anymore, it still is the place to go for any tour/news information about bands and artists and such. so the hits it gets daily, remain to be large.
it seems to me its just the latest trend which will soon be overtaken by something else

I enjoy it, but yes, it will probably fade out in about that time

i haven't use my personal myspace in over a year, but i still use it to listen to music and shit.
i feel like these social networking sites have just become solely business tools instead of social networking sites.

No, Twitter is just beginning. It will be a lot bigger in two years.

I definitely see it dwindling down and only like tweens and teens using it in 2 years...maybe a little more. I feel like that's what happened to myspace.

i surely hope so...im sick of these stupid 5 year old trends that everyone falls into...it saddens me and makes me think everyone just loves to be trendy and fit in, even if its a stupid, silly trend. what happened to just using AIM away messages or a facebook status? ITS THE SAME THING

i like twitter for getting updates and sometimes getting messages from my favorite athletes/musicians/writers etc... its cool that famous people have a way to interact with their fans and stuff.
i think for that reason, its simplicity, and un-cumbersome interface, twitter will outlast myspace and facebook.

Not my kind of thing, I can't see it being a massive fad for too long anyway

Sort of like myspace, twitter is pretty much only good for famous people / artists to give others ideas of what they're doing.
Or news feeds or whatever.
Do we really care what our friends are doing all the time?
What about personal blogs, how are those faring? Since I don't give much a crap about those either (none of my close friends have them, so it's not hard).

it won't be dead but much much less popular. i can't see people like Oprah still updating hers in 2 years.
twitter will be like myspace. its a fad and then people will get bored of it.
myspace is on its last leg. people still go there for tour dates and music, but when bands stop putting that stuff on their myspaces/stop having myspace pages, people will have no reason to visit. i look to websites like livenation to take over where myspace is leaving off.
