i've always thought of interpunk as more of the underground kind of cult punk rock site, whereas smartpunk might appeal to more of a fanbase coming from this site.... i usually order cds from smartpunk if i have to get them online...

I say this and that is shitty all the time, but honest to god, that Dear Whoever CD is one of the absolute biggest piles of garbage I've ever had the displeasure of hearing. They are a fourth rate Hawthorne Heights, if anyone can even fathom that. If you like that band, your eardrums should be revoked, and given to somebody who could make decent use of them.

I'm guessing Saosin is 1 and 2 on the smartpunk all time sales considering they were 1st there for months, and then for months more with the ep.

that's awesome for Valencia. i love that album so much, more people need to hear it.
and does interpunk not carry Fearless stuff? they don't have the new GAD or a lot of Fearless releases.

SmartPunk shares a building with Fearless, so we carry everything that Fearless does (including tons of older stuff from them). We do tend to cater to a lot of new bands in that our tastes reflect the majority of the staff and the customers we serve. It should be mentioned that just about everyone who placed an order just before Christmas received their package with a $20 SmartPunk gift certificate included as our way of saying thanks for supporting SmartPunk and independent music.
It should be noted that the Matchbook album is a preorder, and comes with a free t-shirt. Keeping with the trend of the featured band, all orders for the new June full-length "If You Speak Any Faster" will come with a limited edition June/Ascend Apparel t-shirt. I honestly didn't think we were shipping THAT many of the Valencia album - I'd have thought Lydia's album would be up there higher, as they're moving a bunch of CD's.
As far as broken cases go from SmartPunk, it's a rare thing. Anything that's been shipped out in the past month or so has gone through my hands at some point, and I can count three times where a cracked case has come across our shipping area - I've personally replaced the item before shipping it everytime.
A big thanks to anyone who's ordered from us this past year - stick with us in 2006, we've got some cool stuff in store.

thanks man. i got a cracked case from you guys too, i know it was the shipping company and not you, but it's still kind of annoying. overall i like your site more than Interpunk, though their selection is more diverse. i see where you;re coming from though. keep up the good work.

Yeah Smartpunk rules and all of my orders besides my last one have been shipped quickly and with everything that I ordered. I didnt get a $20 gift card though but I did get a set of picks not quite $20 bucks but you always get free stuff from smartpunk. Did you not get the gift card if you used the holiday password to save like 15%? I guess I am just bitter that I missed out on the giftcard but I will still order. Most of the time I cant get the CDs I get from you anywhere else and the price is good. As for interpunk they seem a little over priced and they are less mainstream while smartpunk fits more of the tastes of this site.

Smartpunk once sent me an order that I hadn't payed for. Being the lovely person I am, I didn't accept the package and instead let it get returned to Smartpunk. It was like 100+ dollars worth of stuff. They promised me some free stuff next time I ordered... but I haven't ordered since. I wonder if I'll still get it.

Interpunk is better. They have never screwed an order up of mine wherein Smartpunk has managed to fuck up both of my orders HORRIBLY. The last order took 5 weeks and 5 of the cds I wanted ended up being out of stock. I know it's not completely their fault, but that's effing ridiculous. And interpunk seems to be much cheaper as well.
I use interpunk, the shipping price is cheaper for europeans.

20 dollar gift card?
thats news to me considering i spent a lot there and received nothing. oh well.
the only thing bad about smartpunk is that they take forever to process and ship orders...and the fact that they cancelled my american football single.

I use interpunk, although i like both sites. They have a wider variety of tees and their shipping is always super reliable. Good site.
