it's probably more of a, "here, you can relate. it'll probably help you out" thing.

Probably the stupidest thread i have ever seen in my life. The last thing he needs is a crappy burned CD about death. Have you ever had someone in your family die? No. You obviously don't know what his needs are right now.

Funeral For A Friend is good stuff, but I don't know why you really need it?

What an insensitive assumption.

i would be quicker to agree with this before i'd say it was a song about death

IMO its a song that can go a few ways - one of those ways is someone losing someone they love, to death or a breakup or whatever.

I guess I can see where you're coming from. I've always viewed it just as about being away from the one you loved.

Would i be dumb to ask what happened in 1984?

This is NOT a stupid thread. I was looking for the same thing, to make a tribute video. Im using GG Allin "Live Fast Die Fast" Because my friend lead an exciting and reckless life which resulted in an early death. I know he wouldnt want some sappy christian rock about "oh life is so precious blah blah blah" he would want some hardcore punk rock and for his friends to continue on without him. So fuck anyone who says its stupid or insensitive.

Death is a sad thing but its a part of the cycle of life and there is lots of music created to reconcile us with that reality. Afterall, we all die.

If I think of any other good ones I'll let you know.

Ha GG Allin, bloody hell. That guy fascinates me. He lived a crazy life.

Heres an idea: Don't depress the dude even more with songs about death, try some lighter/hopeful stuff to ease his mood

I just lost my father last month, these songs helped ALOT

Saves The Day - This is not an exit
Jimmy Eat World - Hear You Me

I'll get shit for this one BUT Carrie Underwood - Temporary Home

AFI - Morning Star
Biffy Clyro - Folding Stars
Coheed and Cambria - Wake Up
Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body
Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days
****Bayside - Winter**** Great one for losing a brother
Manchester Orchestra - Sleeper 1972
Paramore - Hallelujah & When It Rains
Senes Fail - Ground Folds (Acoustic)
Silverstein - In Memory Of. . . & Here Today Gone Tomorrow
The Starting Line - Photography
Also Isreal Kamamkawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World (but my dad was Hawaiian)

Anything by Explosions in the sky because there are no words that could make him think about it too much, you just kinda get numb in the music

I'm sorry to hear about your father.

Some really great picks here, especially Explosions. Their music is a religious experience.
