Shit, I'm sorry. This is fucking retarded. I do believe that the French should join the effort agains global threats, but this is fucking retarded. This is somethings liberals usually do (not for war but for pandas, trees, anti-death penalty, whatever), and I was surprised to find out that REPUBLICANS did this. a boycott shows how america (the defender of democracy and equality) cant stand when someone opposes their imperialist ideas. so what do we do?? we do the same thing my little sisters do when they fight..ignore them. its childish and stupid. i dont think itll hurt their wallets..unless we put a ban on exports to france as well..but that would hurt our wallets also (remember...were in a "recession" now). if anything..itll only increase the anti-american sentiment in france...which is no way to regain an ally is it?

First of all look up the word imperialism. The US is not an imperialistic nation in the terms that we do not fight wars to obtain land, we fight wars to solve conflicts. Dont say we are imperialistic because we try to influence our beliefs on others through war, because thats not true. There are plenty of other countries who are not in the government form we would like them to be, or they do not agree with what we believe in, and we don't wage war on them. Iraq is a real threat. Not as real as North Korea, but a real threat still. Saddam needs to be taken out because he is evil. Like a previous post said, Saddam is very similar to Hitler. People seem to be able to see that Hitler is and evil man now and needed to die, but they can't see that Saddam is evil now. I guess hindsight is 20/20. 50 years from now people will look back on this and wonder "why didnt they do the job back in the early 90's" or "why did it take so long to get this dumbass out of power". Its because you crackhead liberals are preaching peace. Peace would be nice. Heidi Klum on my lap would be nice. Its not going to happen. Wake up and see whats going on. Saddam has gassed his own people, he kills people for looking at him sideways. If you lived in Iraq you would be dead because you dont support your leaders views. that was, but that was also aprox. 100 years ago. they country has gone through many phases, for most of the first half of the century we were isoloationists. also we have done things like grant the phillipines their indepence, that isn't imperialistic. i think that yes, during the 1800's we were expanstionists, we bought land from france, russia and obtained the southwestern states and california in the mexican war, and you could probably consider that imperialistic as well. however, the country goes through phases and its unfair to call america "imperialistic" based on events that happened 100 years ago.

Yes we did fight a war for Mexican land, like over 100 years ago. We still hung "******s" (excuse that word, just using it to set the mood) and shot Mexicans for no reason. Women couldnt vote, much of the country was illiterate and most people rode buggies. That is irrelavent. We also killed Indians for land a while back also. Its a differnt time. Most of the land we took in every war since the Spanish-American war has been given back to its rightful owners (except a few military bases ie. Okanowa, rightfully ours after the way we fought our ass for it). So yes we were an imperealistic nation, but find me some recent imperialistic moves the US has made. And school yard bully, no. The US is like the big kid who beats up the bullies for being dickheads, and the US was the allied forces, yes the USSR did work their ass off in WWII, but that was in the east. The US kicked ass in the west. Yes the UK and France were the others who fought on the western side of Germany, but the US did the grunt work. London was getting their ass handed to them in the battle of london by the germans, but the US saved their ass. France was occupied by Nazi's but the US saved their ass. Its like saying a football team wins a championship. Yes everyone gave a part, but the star of the team made it happen, not the bench warmer. And yes I would support a ban on exports to France, nothing to do with them whatsoever. The reason the Germans and Russians arent getting it is because they are kind of on the fence about war. France has completely said no. Germany and Russia will wage war under certain circumstances. I wouldnt be 100% against boycotting them as well, but I dont run the country and I'm glad I dont.

First, so they blockaded some ships. Thank you for that. But if it wasnt for the US (and partially GB) the French would have been saying "Hail Hitler" for years after WWII. The scale tips in our favor when it comes to who owes who.

and these examples i gave were because this was the only examples i could give, considering the US has not taken much of any land since then. I gave these example because I wanted to show that the US gave back, and the Phillipines didnt revolt, it was a bunch of riots that gained publicity, the US didnt fight.

the philippines never fought a war against us, they came under our control during the Spanish American war in 1898. in 1899 there was a revolt that was suppressed, and in 1932 congress agreed to grant the philippines independence in 1945, which they did.
