Ok I know everyone loves him here. Including me, but there are more and more people in the media that are saying that he may not turn out to be what everyone says he will. They are saying he lakes the size and toughness and may not be able to withstand the NFL game. They are also saying he is much more of an athlete then a football player I.E. Dave Meggett of the New York Giants.
So what do you guys feel about this?

i think he's the best player in the draft, but he isnt the can't-miss talent he's been made out to be. He should be the #1 pick, but not by Houston. They should trade it because teams are going to overpay.

i've said before that he's not proven as a 20-25 carry a game back. and i don't know that he has that in him, especially not as a rookie.
i think he'll be a playmaker. that won't change. i think he'll still be able to break off a huge run / return / reception every once in a while.
but, in time i think he'll turn into a very good back. i think he could be a tiki barber type in 4 or 5 years or so.

not necessarily, sometimes rookies drafted in late rounds turn out to be good. right now though, i would say he is the best, but it will be interesting to see if he does do well. i don't think he can ever live up to the hype surrounding him though.

tiki is much thicker. Can break more tackles. Bush is also faster then Tiki. I still don't want to make of Bush besides a playmaker type guy.

he'll be fine. he might not be gale sayers right out of college, but he will be fine if he gets a solid line in front of him. don't forget, even barry sanders had bad years (for him) when he didn't have a good line and bush has the an amazing line right now.

this notion that he's too small for the NFL is lost on me. Does size matter if no one can catch you, tackle you, or touch you? If he can outrun, outmaneuver the oversized defensive players, he can survive.
a.k.a. See Barry Sanders.

barry sanders' lowest rushing total in a season in the NFL was 1115 yards and that was in just 11 games.
The only "bad years" he had came in terms of victories, not stats.

Barry Sanders is once in a lifetime.
Barry Sanders >>>>>>>> Reggie Bush. The difference is Sanders was a great football player and good athlete where as Bush is a great athlete and a good football player. You'd rather the former then the later. The NFL is such a different game then college. Everyone is faster on the defense and it is an awakening for several College studs.

i said bad for him. He always had the yards and never had a 'bad' year, but there were years his ypc went down from 5.5-6 to 4.1-4.5 because his line wasn't as good. Anyway, the point wasn't about Barry Sanders, it was about how Reggie Bush needs a line to be as good as people say he's going to be.

I have been preaching this for awhile now. He is a great back but DeAngelo Williams of Memphis will have a better NFL career than Bush. He is built better and has better vison, Bush has good vision but utilizes speed, in the NFL just being able to get through a hole quick isnt good enough.

Actually, most NFL players say that the NFL is not a different game than college, it's just faster. It's still football.
Bush is the next big thing in my opinion. I feel like he's gifted enough to adapt to the NFL speed and his field vision will carry him. I really, really, want him to succeed. I do worry about him becoming the NFL's next Desmond Howard, but....I think he's better. I hope so.

He's going to be fine.
The media is just starting to get nervous and pussy out now that the day he goes to the NFL is getting near. They've been so absurdly over-the-top with the hype that now they are trying to cover their tracks just incase. So that if he somehow manages to blow it they can then say, "look here, i didnt contribute to the hype!! I knew better all along!"
Sometimes I'm frustrated that I'm going to have to be part of the press in like...a year. lol.

I agree with that. If you read any publication or online sports zine, it seems like there's always the one writer who was told to write the dissenting opinion against Bush's NFL career, and the argument is always the same and never seems very strong.

obviously you can't deny what he's done. i love watching him play. arguably that best of his kind to ever play college ball. i can see him as a flop, but not enough uncertainty not to take him. i think he's going to be fine, probably great. both the above comments i agree with as well.

I think worst case scenario he could easily be moved to wide receiver with his receiving ability and succeed greatly. That's worst case, and it's possible if SOMEHOW he busts at back. With that said, I personally think he is going to be a dominant player, I think he's a unique player in the fact that he's extremely fast and long but can break tackles with incredible ase. Most backs with his type of frame get touched and they are down, but his ability to get past defenders that should be tackling him is once in a decade. I think he's going to be, to put it relatively, the NFL's Lebron, minus the retarded commercials. With that said, unlike the Cavs, I think the Texans should trade the #1 because even with his greatness, some team will overvalue him and trade a bunch of picks and a great left tackle for the opportunity to get him. If the Saints gave up that much for Ricky Williams, there's no reason someone won't throw down huge for Bush. Who knows, if the Niners trade up for him and Smith improves (Meaning he learns to throw the ball), I could see them being dangerous next year, as their defense is fast and dangerous, even though they gave up a shit ton of points this year. It'll be interesting.

This is like the LeBron James hype almost. And look at The King now... I know that's an entirely different sport and he came from High School. But, still the hype for him was insane and really look at how great he is today. And the scary part is, he's not even close to his prime yet.
Bush will be fine. He just needs to go to a team with potential. The Texans do have it. (just saying them because he's probably going to end up there) But their offensive line is really shitty. I mean, real bad. David Carr can still be good. Andre Johnson's a beast. The defense should improve. Give them a good coach, some parts on defense, an offensive line, and Reggie Bush....then they'll be good. And yeah, that's a lot. But it is possible, it's the NFL.
If Bush goes to any other team, I believe he'll be good. He's a beast.

Different Adrian Peterson. The one that he's talking about (and I think you're thinking the same guy) still plays for Oklahoma. And he's still only a sophomore.

i'll say it now, bush is the next barry sanders.
you make it sound like sanders was an all around player when he wasnt. he wasn't a good blocker or receiver.

He won't be a bust, but he's not a slam dunk HOFer like some think. Look at Willie Parker. He's not big or strong, he's not an every down back, he can't carry it 25-30 times, but he still had over 1400 yfs in his first year as a starter. Imagine what Bush can do in a similar situation with his cutback ability. He'll be fine, he just won't be as good as Faulk and LT.

i disagree.
parker's a lot stronger than most people think. he's got good drive in those legs.
i think he'll be able to carry the 20-25 carry a game load next year.

exactly. and he's a better reciever so they can get him the ball more in space than barry sanders.

yeah, the one who plays for ou, i remember him on the cover of espn as "next." I didn't hear anything about him this year.OU lost White and Clayton, plus a lot of top defensive talent at the end of last season. They're a young team again. They have the potential to be much better next year; Bomar just needs ease up on the interceptions. But again, he's only a freshman. They could be a heavy contender the season after next.
