The deal should be finished tommorow.

Dreams really can come true.

Of course now the Jets will hire someone even more inept, just to spite me.

ha, with all the other ongoings i didn't know this...but big news nonetheless

A good move for him. More to work with in KC, though they'll be hurting soon when Green, Roaf, Shields, Gonzalez, Kennison, etc. are washed up

Use the compensation (draft pick or two?) to package with the #4 pick and move up to #1 for Bush.

This was taken from ESPN.com about possible replacements ..
"Sources told Pasquarelli that Jets officials, who initially wanted to retain Edwards but who have grown weary of all the talk about him leaving for Kansas City, have already begun drawing up a list of potential replacements.

Among the candidates are ex-Saints coach Jim Haslett, New York newspapers reported Thursday. Also being considered, according to the New York Daily News: Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Fassel, Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis, ex-Packers coach Mike Sherman and Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm."

I'd be happy with Lewis, or Sherman. Any other choice would easily continue the J-E-T-S recent run of bad luck.

Plus, Imagine Sherman coaching the Jets, and who could they bring in just incase Pennington isn't ready for next year? Brett Favre. He would be worshipped in NY, moreso than he is in Green Bay. I'm not saying it would happen by any stretch of the imagination, but if it did, i'd be the first on line to buy his #4 in the green and white.

I would really like to see the jets do well next year. They would totally be one of my teams if there decided to suddenly turn it on.

What pick do they have in the draft?

#4. I really think they should trade up to #1 though for Bush. Use him as a 3rd down back for Martin to ease him in there.. or if Martin doesn't bounce back then give him full-time duties. They seriously need to upgrade the offense, with or without a healthy Pennington. As a Pats fan I'd hate to play against Bush twice a year, but I think it's the Jets best move.

I don't think Bush is big enough to be a 3rd down back. Either way though, I think QB is a bigger concern for the jets then the running game.

Latest reports are that the talks between KC and the Jets have stalled. Edwards may not be going anywhere after all ...

3rd down backs can be and are often the small, fast guys.

I thought 3rd down backs were often big, rumbling, refrigerator perry, jerome bettis type mother fuckers who can just crush forward for 3 or 4 yards or whatever?

they are both really ..depending on the coach's philosophy. the pats have used a small Kevin Faulk for a while as their 3rd down back. The kind of backs you're refering to are short yardage backs, which is often whats necessary for 3rd. There isnt a real prototype.

I always just sort of thought "third down backs" and "short yardage backs" were just sorta the same thing. makes sense though.

Yeah, that sub-.500 record sure is great...

One fourth round pick and their 1st wont be enough to get the #1. Even if they threw the 2nd round pick I dont think it would be enough. Plus I really don't believe the hype on Bush.

granted he's not the best coach out there, but there's alot of other guys that would be worse candidates.

Besides, Herm won 2 playoff games in his time with the Jets, while Vermeil couldn't win one with the Cheifs. I think, since herm is a defensive guy, it's a good fit for KC.

Edwards would have had a better record if they didn't have a QB made of paper and had to rely on Vinnie and Brooks Bollinger.

While I'd love to have him coaching the Jets next year, Henderson will probably go to KC with Herm. Most of the defensive prowess that Herm has had has come from Donnie. KC would be in great shape if he came with him.

Herm's record before this year was 35-29, which isn't too bad. Good coach, alright. But there's no way that someone could tell me he's a great coach.

yeah, when i made that post the rumor was that Jets would get a 2nd and a 3rd rounder. They'd have to pony up their own picks now, but according to Chris Mortensen Houston is going to pick Bush anyway.

I'd like to see Sherman out of all the candidates replace herm if he leaves.
