Yeah, I'm a total prep dresser, and yeah, I am being myself, I just happen to dig these clothes, and no, I don't listen to simple plan, or good charlote. I listen to good music, that most of the stereo typical "punks" in my town have never heard of. Like Choking Victim, My chemical romance, fairweather, the goodwill, reggie and the full effect, operation ivy, minor threat, coheed and cambira, catch 22, and about 2048270 other awesome bands.
So just, don't hate judge people by what they wear, they may be totally different than the usual stereotype. The worst thing is when the "punks" say that they are just being themselves, when really, they are just trying to be like the other "punks" in my opinion, there is no person that can really be themselves, unless they were to close there eyes there WHOLE life, except to pick out clothes, the whole being yourself thing is just a cliche, no one can really be themselves, they will always be influenced by someone else.
Well, that's my 3 cents.

I bought an ae shirt for 6 bucks a couple months ago, wore it out for a day, and decided it would look good with paint splattered all over it, so I paint my murals in it now. I am not ashamed.

there is nothing wrong with that. i dont see why people get so worked up over clothes/music. i hate it when people say something like "you must be a prep" when you state your opinion over the internet. i think basing someones personality on the type of clothes they wear is bullshit. its only ignorant fucktards who do that.....yeah.

i love my chemical romance!!!!!!!!ah

I pretty much disagree with all of you. I used to hold the same opinion as everyone else "blah blah blah be yourself blah blah blah where what you want blah blah blah im ugly blah blah blah" But then i realized that its these bastard companies that charge ppl $20 for pieces of clothing that cost 64 cents to make (including materials and labor) and its these capitolist techniques that keep blue collar workers and sweat shops open. And everything you wear is covered in logos. your like walking billboards and magazine ads. I just dont have respect for ppl who pay that much to look like half-witted pop-culture tools. And you, rxbanfan, should know more about this than anybody because of the music you listen to. Many of those bands are anti capitolism and preach against exactly what your doing. And as for "trying to be like other punks" i dont think thats true at all. I mean a lot of punks have chain wallets and mo hawks, but they dont do that to be like each other, they do that because, among many other reasons, its a part of punk tradition. Just like how orthodox Jews wear yamikas. Are all jews trying to be like each other? No, of course not, its just tradition. Punks also do that because its a statement as to who they are. Punks have always stood for individuality, and mohawks are kind of like the universal symbol for that. Its just like Demosthenes and his lamp (the dude who walked the streets of of ancient greece with a lamp during the day saying he was "looking for an honest man."

The truth is, what we wear is rather important, as much as i hate to admit it. Cuz clothes tend to represent who we are. It can tell you what our beliefs our, what kind of music we listen to, where we come from. i think clothes are also a great way to express culture and art. butwutevr, i think its just naive to say "who care about clothes, they arent important." because thats what everyone says, but the truth is you could be supporting sweatshops.

Ok, you may now begin my public execution. Death by flames.

there just clothes (that were made in sweatshops overseas by poor 6-year olds)

I think he told us, like he said, because he doesn't think that people should judge people by the clothes they wear... he looks like a prep, but hes not, he likes punk.... people these days are so judgemental and they say, "oh look, an ae shirt, what a preppy queer" and hes saying that hes not like that... so we shouldn't judge others by looks.

Well, anyway I wear AE, shirts from PacSun, and plaid shorts from Walmart. I would get some from AE but nearly $40 is far too expensive for shorts.

I play guitar in a pop-punk band. All of my band mates wear flannel, skinny jeans, vans sneakers, and have guages. I wear macbeth shoes, regular jeans, and T-shirts from Jcrew. Its just the what I prefer, it doesn't make me any more or less punk

I don't understand this bump, but I wear J. Crew, Polo RL, and Tommy Hilfiger, and I still listen to more legit music than any of those douchers in skinny jeans with swoopy hair.
