I didn't see a thread for this tour. I got back from it not too long ago in State College. There were a little over 50 people there. Real small. The place looked empty. Not too shabby though. The setlists are really shotty. I'll do my best.

Good Old War canceled because someone was sick. That sucks. I was probably the most excited to see them again.

Lovedrug was good. It looked like they were trying to have fun with the crowd (banter and whatnot), but they didn't really seem that into being there. They didn't nearly as much energy as I've seen them in the past (I've probably seen them 6+ times). I guess they weren't going to play Blackout or Spiders, but someone between songs yelled up that it was his birthday and they asked what his favorite songs were. He said Doomsday and Echo, Blackout, and Spiders. They said no to all of them, but ended up playing Blackout and Spiders. Nice additions, I must say. Probably got some Sucker Punch Show songs out of the lineup, which is fine by me.

song from Sucker Punch Show
Castling (I'm not totally sure about this one)
Thieving
Blackout (birthday request)
new song (sounded really good)
Ghost at Your Side
The Dirtiest Queen
Spiders (birthday request)

Straylight was pretty solid. The mix was terrible. You could really only hear drums and base. The piano and guitar were really buried. John would switch between piano and guitar (sometimes within the same song). It worked sometimes, but other times it was really noticable that parts were missing. They played a good mix of songs though, and they were having fun with the small crowd. There was some reminising about the last time they were in town with Paramore and Plain White T's opening for them and how both of them became the biggest things the next year. ha.

Existentialism on Prom Night
Soon We'll Be Living in the Future
Mistakes We Knew We Were Making
Wait and Watch
Your Name Here (acoustic)
Buttoned Down (acoustic)
Mile After Mile (acoustic)
I'm Through with the Past
Try
Song for the Martyr
Hands In the Sky

I'm pretty sure they played a couple more, but I'm blanking on which ones they were.

ahh, i am seeing them at the knitting factory
next saturday. i am pretty amped because
i have been obsessed with straylight run
for awhile, and their new songs
they have been posting online
have been really good. fifty people
is awfully small, considering straylight
had some notable fame for awhile.

Similar set in Cambridge. I don't know the song names for the newest songs. They did play Slow Descent and opened with It's For the Best. They played for an hour and Michelle was there and played a few songs with them. Probably the best time that I have seen them.

those are 2 I missed.

I'm glad they played well when you saw them. It was easily the worst I've seen of both them and Lovedrug. It's nice to hear that it was just an off night.

First of all, what was with the show starting so early last night? 7:30pm!? Most Middle East shows begin at 9pm unless noted, and on the website it said it started at 8pm. I even called the Middle East, and the recorded message said 8:30pm. Anyway...I'm just upset cause I missed Good Old War.

Secondly: I wish I had videos, but Michelle DID perform "Buttoned Down", "Existentialism On Prom Night" and "Big Shot (Hands In The Sky)" with the boys last night. Shit was so killer.

It really was, it just sucks they had such an early curfew. I would've liked to see a few more songs.

Pretty much same set from Straylight in Buffalo but they also played another new one, Don't Count Me Out. Great show, John was joking around a lot because some drunk chicks were making a scene, but it was all in good fun.

that was pretty funny. yea it was great show, talked to john for a bit after, he was awesome. Said I can expect the solo album to be more electronic and should be out around early september.

Yeah it was incredible, I'm real sorry you missed it!

If it's any consolation here are some photos, and I know that http://www.flickr.com/photos/joelemke took photos too that should be up within a few days I'm assuming.

Sorry no setlist :( and sorry no videos haha I forgot my digital camera, I was going to make my friend hold it the whole set while I took pictures haha.

However I do recall the closing song was big shot, and john did acoustic renditions of your name here... they played try, wait and watch, and existentialism i'm 100% positive of that ha. oh buttoned down got played too i think.

by the way how was Jenny? I thought about going to see her as well but really it got down to choosing between straylight + lovedrug or lucero at the varsity for me. fucking hard decision ... why do all the bands come here the same day then nobody really comes for a few weeks? :(

I caught this tour on the 23rd. I think that will be the last time I see Straylight, too. I didn't like them much without Michelle.

She was good. She looked amazing. Honestly, her and her band screwed up a couple times (broken strings, capo on wrong fret, started songs over). She still sounded great though. Good, solid stuff.
