Is anyone making a road trip of any sort this summer? This might be my first real one. I'll be hitting the road with a full tank of stolen gas, a quarter of pot, and a younger friend who knows how to live like a bum.
I think I'm at the point in my life where I just want to 'walk the earth', ya know? fuckin' explore. Do you ever get the feeling like there is absolutely nothing keeping you in your home town? keeping you in college?
I'm going on 21, this might be my last chance.
starting in central pa.........

not a bad idea, I'm planning on moving to British Columbia next year for school if all goes well, not quite the same thing.
But kind of similar, living somewhere else far away to experience a new place
haha but I did recently go on a roadtrip to Jersey, pretty fun, the car ride was pretty brutal...take lots of breaks/stops

i'm not doing it this summer but i've done it before (i've driven across the country from CA to NC and vice versa many times in the past 10 years) and I think it's something everyone should try to experience at least once in their lives. The first time I did it I basically zig-zagged around the southern states eventually making my way to San Francisco. it was so unbelievably freeing and peaceful just driving along smoking a bowl with my shoes off and my music on with the windows down and the wind in my hair. there's not a lot that can beat that feeling of going wherever you feel like, seeing new places and being totally open to whatever comes your way. it's magical.
have a great time.

All the time. Sometimes, I just want to drive to nowhere and never look back.

I'm sure you'll have to look back. It's one of the basics in driver safety.

i'm goin from california to alabama this summer. it should be pretty sweet! vegas, phoenix, albuquerque, somewhere in texas, little rock, then huntsville
Friday night I'm leaving out to south carolina with my parents and 2 dogs. it's normally an 18 hour drive but will probably take around 20 - 22 with all the stops and shit we're going to make AND having a trailer full of shit in it for the move. should be exciting nonetheless.

Oh shit that's my hometown. I live in Tennessee for college now but I go home for most of summer.
Ah, road trips? Tomorrow I'm taking a 23 hour bus ride to Ontario to see my girlfriend. The trip itself is going to be...it's going to be interesting. I'm keeping a journal for everything. Should be good for my writing.

I haven't been on a roadtrip without plans before.
I've been on little tours with different bands though and ended up hitting the following states:
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware.
I was driving through Tennessee once in my car and a cop pulled me over on the interstate and gave me a $100 ticket for going 9mph over the speed limit. Not in a construction zone or anything. That was maybe a month ago, I feel like avoiding driving through TN for now on.

Avoid ohio too, the cops are just as bad.

whatever you do - avoid Interstate 40 as much as possible. I know it's the most straight-forward way of getting to CA but it's just not as much fun as taking the less-traveled roads. I would suggest going above Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Arizona and New Mexico have incredible sunsets but overall those states are kind of boring, but that's just me, I'm not a big fan of the desert. That being said, if you do go through Arizona, check out The Painted Desert, it's lovely when it's not blistering hot out.

18 hour drive from Montana back to Albuquerque, NM.
Had been awake for 36 hours straight and smoked way to much pot.
Worst trip ever. 1988 Toyota only went up to 60mph.
Road trips are awesome. Taking one at the end of July and will be traveling across all Canada's southern Providences.

Why the hell did you come to Oklahoma for? We've got cows and churches.

It's just not what I wanted for myself in a college. The different culture was too much to deal with and I'm looking for somewhere with a reputable psychology/neuroscience program. It's still possible that I'll go back, but it's slim.
