I'm looking for albums to blast this summer, seeing as I'll have finished up high school and will be wanting to celebrate.
So far I have:
Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
Valencia - We All Need A Reason To Believe
The Dangerous Summer - Reach For The Sun
The Starting Line - Say It Like You Mean It
EDIT: blink. Entire discography, really.
Help me out?

Disturbing lack of Streetlight and Beach Boys in this thread.
Seriously, go listen to Pet Sounds and tell me you don't want to strip down to your skivvies and go play on the beach. You can't. Scientifically proven.

First of all, get rid of Yellowcard and you're off to a good start.
Fall Out Boy's Folie a Deux works well as a summer album. Definitley not good for winter though.

The best thing to listen to while relaxing in the summer, just sitting on your porch or something, is Iron & Wine. The best thing to hang out with friends and party to is The Hold Steady. The best for everything else is Yellowcard and Blink-182, just super fun pop-rock/punk.
For me, anyway

Wrong and wrong. Ocean Avenue is the perfect album for the summer, and TTTYG is a way better summer album than Folie a Deux.

It still does, but my preferences are starting to lean away from it. I'll go one of those albums i listed before i go to a pop-punk album usually. I mean, there are still some i'll bump like Northstar, Gatsbys American Dream, Fall Out Boy and Socratic.

Yeah makes sense. For me, summer albums have always been a sort-of guilty pleasure kind of thing. If I'm just cruising, windows down, I really like to blast Ocean Avenue or anything else by Yellowcard. Joel Plaskett Emergency and Dashboard seem to be enjoyable in the summer too. It's funny how seasons bring on different musical tastes.

Those Beach Boys comparisons have some legitimacy with Merriweather Post Pavilion. Definitely agree with that choice. It's accessible noisy pop. It's catchy, especially some of the vocal melodies, mostly major keys... just great summer music.
Only thing I've been playing more is Westbound Train's Come and Get It . To quote a reviewer "No longer are we having ska bands who play soul. This is a soul band well versed in ska." Throw a bit of Motown in there, such a solid album.

Summer is really pop-punk time for me. Here in Northern Norway we have daylight all 24 hours of the day during the summer, and whenever that time is on, I for some reason feel like listening to honest to God pop-punk. It just makes me happy!
The rest of the year I barely even touch the genre, but these days I can't get enough of it. Jack's and SoCo are premium =D
And to the one who mentioned Neutral Milk Hotel: Really? I've been listening to Aeroplane Over The Sea all winter. I don't see how it would fit these bright day, but will try!

Kurt Vile's Constant Hitmaker is a noise-infused outdoorsy ode to summer love.
Silver Jew's American Water is an album for roadtrips, generally done in the summer.
It's not necessarily "infectious conventional pop," but Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure just feels like a summer-setting from a David Lynch film.
Take any The Sea and Cake album and play it while driving opposite a dying sun. It's rather appropriate.

Many are under the impression that James Blackshaw's intricate and dense acoustic arrangements carry with it a "Fall sonic aesthetic," and I can certainly empathize with the rationale behind that, but when I listen to O True Believers, I want to fuse with the dirt.
Iron & Wine's Our Endless Numbered Days is a classic example of campfire folk. Cinder and Smoke is the quintessential contemporary summer Folk track.
Last year's The Tallest Man on Earth full-length Shallow Grave is another ideal candidate for summer Folk, especially with the imagery Matsson invokes of nature.

I've been doing that same thing with the Beatles, i didn't seriously start listening to them until 2 or 3 months ago (or was it sooner?), but my children and grandchildren will think they were the first band i heard.

I've been doing that same thing with the Beatles, i didn't seriously start listening to them until 2 or 3 months ago (or was it sooner?), but my children and grandchildren will think they were the first band i heard.
Great input in general for this thread by the way.

Which song do you not like? I kind of, sort of don't like Lion In A Coma.
You're going to love their live show. It's ridiculous.
Lion In A Coma live is really good, even though it's not very enjoyable on the album. Imo, Fireworks is their best live song.
If you like My Girls though, you'll love how they do it live. It's pretty different than the recording. I'd say it's more enjoyable.

No, it's Taste actually. Not a fan of Taste.
You're a smart fellow.
Animal Collective and Black Dice are playing.
Why do you dislike Taste? I don't think it's all that bad. But agreeably, one of the weaker tracks. I still like it more than Lion in a Coma. I think I just really dislike that sound they use in Lion in a Coma.

Here's what I remember, there were a few random rock-outs in the middle of a few songs. Amazing light-show too.
Chocolate Girl
Comfy In Nautica
What Would I Want Sky
Slippi
Lion In A Coma
My Girls
Guys Eyes
Fireworks
Leaf House
Brother Sport
And the encore:

You never know, I've been hearing that they change it up alot. I was pretty bummed they didn't play Peacebone. Wanted to see what they would do with it live. Check out The Years Gone By, you'll like them, similar to ATL. Also, the new DGD ;-)

I'd go with some classic like Dylan, Costello, the beach boys, or the beatles. Just fun, chill music.

Slightly Stoopid and Sublime are the bands that comes to mind first when I think of summer. Everything In Transit is also an awesome summer record, especially Holiday From Real.

I really just keep listening to what I listen to all year. I've never seen the point in designating something as "summer music".

I don't necessarily restrict myself by classifying albums into strict seasons, but there are albums that make me wish it was Summer/feel like sitting in the Sun with some friends etc. more than others.

I can sort of understand it. I mean, what I listen to changes all the time but there's just some albums that have that "summer feel" if you know what I mean. The kind of music that you want to blare out of your car stereo with the windows down or listen to while sitting outside at the crack of dawn. Stoner metal usually makes me think of the latter...

Yeah, I know what you guys mean. I can understand that, and there are certain albums I'll listen to more or less depending on the season, including summer. I've just never really been like "okay, I'm going to listen to these albums this summer" or "I'm just gonna rock a punch of pop-punk all summer", it's just been more of a random thing, you know? I'll just kind of go with whatever I get the urge to listen to.

Yeah, I definitely know what you mean there but there's always like 10 main albums I listen to every summer for some reason. Always really random stuff too.

Absolutely agree, the albums I post in here are albums I've had the urge to put on given the nice weather I've been having. Not pre-meditated or restrictive in any way, just impulsive as a result of the weather/hanging with friends/festivals coming up.

You could probably trim the weaker tracks from it and have a solid summer EP/mini-album.

I really only feel like there's a couple songs on there that are worth my time.
