I really liked Anberlin's cover of 'There Is a Light That Never Goes Out." (The Smiths)
Braid did a solid cover of "Trompe le Monde" (Pixies) and "This Charming Man" (also Smiths)
Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" (Nine Inch Nails) is a given.

Of Mice & Men did a cover of Poker face too... it is good, the ex-screamer from Attack Attack! is the vocalist of the band.
EDIT: To clear up anything that could be thought, this does not mean Attack Attack is good, but the old screamer does have some talent, regardless of what the band's image is. But he was pre-AA! hate anyways.. just clearing this up.

I would have to say Kris Allen's was better.

Let Go origionaly by frou frou song sucks but A Static Lullaby redid the song and its kick ass
also pop goes punk 2 is insanely good
some of my favorite covers
Hey Ya (Outkast cover) - Lorene Drive
Chris Conley does a version of Every Man Has A Molly...pretty epic.
No. That Outkast cover is terrible. Uninspired. And Conley is downright annoying on Every Man Has A Molly. Time has not been kind to his voice.
Obadiah Parker- "Hey Ya"
Mat Weddle of Obadiah Parker "fame," yes. Good cover.
Let me throw "Baby Got Back" by Jonathan Coulton (who?), "Sisten Golden Hair" by Midtown, "Your Love" by Midtown and "Boyz-N-The-Hood" by Dynamite Hack into the fray.
Simple man covered by Shinedown.
I think they may just do it better than Lynyrd Skynyrd.
That was blasphemous. But you're 14. I forgive you.

oh man where can i find this? that sounds amazing
i really like cake's cover of "never never gonna give you up" originally by barry white
also out of curiosity... did anyone ever get that cd from the gap a few years ago with a bunch of covers by random artists? it was like promoting their "favorite" jeans by like singing thier favorite song or something, but anyway some of them were pretty solid, i like brandon boyd singing "allison" (elvis costello), john legend "hello, it's me" (isley brothers) and michelle branch "life on mars" (david bowie). man i wish i could find that cd

I didn't think Butch had the chops for Since U Been Gone. He did an alright job, though. Obviously his rendition has a far different sound than the original did, but he more or less was able to hit the notes.
I mentioned this earlier, and Punk goes Crunk is good.

A Static Lullaby- Toxic
Paramore- Love's Not A Competition (But I'm Winning)
Yellowcard- Everywhere (could've been a lot better, but I still really enjoyed it)
Framing Hanley- Lollipop
I actually didn't mind Escape The Fate's cover of Smooth, and Pop Goes Crunk made me laugh 99% of the time, but I still enjoyed hearing what the bands could come up with.

To each their own sir, you enjoy Tenacious D? Uhh not a fan what so ever in fact they are kinda terrible, but should I attack you for your liking of them? I think not.

I just don't think the album should be included in a "best cover songs" discussion, is all. The last comment was an over-the-top assault on your tastes which I made jokingly.

Ah well, the internet is a hard place to pick up on jokes or sarcasm or whatever else.. hell half the stuff people post here it seems they may or may not be joking, its hard to tell.. so I just read it how I would imagine they would be thinking.. And since your first comments both seemed like attempts to try and insult me, ha I took it as so, so I just made my point.. no worries sir.
Well neither do I (on the Crunk being a great cover album), but hell a lot of the stuff that people are posting here is not even remotely close to the best covers.. and it isn't either really, but I did enjoy seeing what the bands could do with their instruments when competing with rappers and hiphop artist's beats and such, that was interesting to say the least.. but the Copeland song was definitely one of my personal favorites, I like a lot of what that band does actually.. so they win a lot for me, especially on a song as good as that.
Anyways, nice to meet you, Rock haha. (And this is not sarcasm either.)

You honestly can't admit that the Say Anything cover had you laughing? Max was spazzing even more than ODB. Also, the SYG cover was hysterical. It's not meant to be a good interpretation; most of them were making fun of the fact that crunk is generally stupid. (You really think The Devil Wears Prada would cover Still Fly in a serious fashion? Come on.)
As my choice for best covers..I totally agree on who said Circa's cover of Pink Floyd; PM me if you want that and can't find it. Against Me! covered both Here Comes a Regular (Replacements) and Wagon Wheel (OCMS), though the latter always gets me a lot more. The Academy Is... covered the Smashing Pumpkins' Mayonaise, which was lovely in my opinion. If you want something more obscure and messy, Death From Above 1979 covered Better Off Dead by a band called La Peste.

When did I say that I thought they were funny? I thought that how they utilized their instruments compared to the rappers beats was interesting, but that is about it.. I think you misread what I said.
