Anyone interested in hard-driving, non-image-driven, punk rock, should give Punches Are Free from Attack Ships On Fire a shot! ASOF plays angry and sarcastically funny songs with an aggression not found in much of the punk rock music these days... Real music isn't pretty. We are not models. Punk rock's not a fashion show.

Jovian's Ep is recommended for fans of old Dance Gavin Dance, A Skylit Drive, etc. You may think that that sounds rehashed, but once you actually listen to it you realize its amazing.

3.5 stars out of 5...

The influences are there from Ramones to Green Day, and you hear a very versatile mix of punk-ish tunes on their 6 song extended player. It was enjoyable enough and they are a very tight band. I guess I'm just wondering if what I heard couldn't be made into more memorable tunes. At this point I would like to go back and listen again, to see if I'm wrong, but I'm not really compelled to do that at all. But don't get the wrong idea, I do respect these songs, and the mastery of these musicicans and songwriters. Who knows, maybe hooks aren't their thing.

We might not have the $120 haircuts and American Apparel gift cards, but The Crazy Ivans have some truly amazing music. (Of course, I'm biased.) Check it out for yourself.

Kate Voegele
3 of 5 stars
Nice voice with a contemporary country leaning accompaniment. I wouldn't turn it off if I passed by it on a radio station. Nothing real remarkable but sweet nonetheless.

My Last Fall
4 of 5
Something like Simple Plan. Being cute Italian boys doesn't hurt either. Not bad really.

Sparks Will Fly
3.75 of 5
Likeable tunes though it's mainly a sampler...from what I can tell these guys like Good Charlotte and Fall Out Boy. Much like My Last Fall, they sound very commercial and that's probably a good thing as far as major labels are concerned.

Nick Maurer
In the role of full disclosure Nick is an artist on my label (http://www.ilovedmusic.com) and I loved Beautiful Person so much I signed it, but he's got some other tunes on his page I hadn't checked out. I almost forgot what a gifted writer he is and his penchant for melodies never fails to move me. If you played the last installment of Grand Theft Auto then you've already heard him as the theme song came from him. I could listen to his page all day. Check out his friend The Projects - that's another album Nick made with the help of Tommie Sunshine and James Curd.
