What do bands like Green Day do when they have a new album coming out? They have like 20 huge hits, than they gotta play their new CD material. This set alone is missing like 5 number 1 songs that I'm guessing a casual listener that went to the show would be pissed they didn't play, Boulevard, Welcome to Paradise, Time of Your Life, Basket Case. These guys crank out hits and I don't even like them. They did put on a hell of a show though when I saw them open for Blink

The hell are you talking about? These club shows are only for a few hundred people and mostly the hardcore fans. Half of the 2nd set was requests.

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not. Bowery definitely holds 500 or so.

pumped for tomorrow night (although im going in assuming we're not getting as much of a second set just so i'm not let down). how was the crowd? im concerned about what percentage of the people there are gonna be fat chicks in green day shirts.

also, i dont mind that they're trimming down the album a little bit, but why no horsehoes and handgrenades? i noticed one of the other recent shows they skipped it too, and thats crazy, i love that song.

relaxxx, wasnt complaining about the setlist at all havent listened to green day since pop disaster. Just saying it must be tough for them to put a setlist together with all their success and the release of a new album. I don't care what they play because I don't go to their shows.

thats so awesome, id love to see them in a show like that. i have really no desire to see them play some theatric arena rock show, but seeing them in a club, id give a lot up for that. are there other dates like this? i imagine they're all sold out....

awesome they're playing eulogy, mike's vocals are so sick in it, high point of the album for me

The set they have to put out on the tour has to be half a set of 21st century breakdown then the hits, like on the american Idiot tour.

so basically if they really have to play the shows with the new album stuff in order with each other it should load the first half with the album then a bunch of hits.. my personal preference would be something like this though

Song of the Century
21st Century Breakdown
Know Your Enemy
Longview
Welcome To Paradise
American Idiot
East Jesus Nowhere
Holiday
Hitchin A Ride
Geek Stink Breath
21 Guns
Before The Lobotomy
American Eulogy
Waiting
Jaded
Wake Me Up When September Ends
King For A Day
Basket Case
She
Going To Pasalacqua
-------------
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
When I Come Around
Good Riddance

A few things

1) Bowery Ballroom holds 550. The person was probaby misinformed (seeing that he/she is from Maryland)

2) The shows were fan club-specific and I'm always happy when bands are confident to not just rely on hit singles as crowd pleasers.

3) I would expect the arena tour to leave off several big hits. There just isn't enough room anymore. I, for one, hope Insomniac gets a little more love.

Green Day should just never ever be able to play a gig without at least playing Basket Case.. It's just not right

They've played that song at every show I've ever seen them at (save for last night and the American Idiot pre-tour). I can do without it.

Are there any more smaller club shows like this coming up? I would much rather see them in a small venue than in an arena but I might have to.

Man! I wish I could make that. Any chance they are gonna be in the Philly/South Jersey/MD area for one of these shows? How would I find out? Thanks for the reply as well.

Nah, I think it's a NYC/Los Angeles only-type thing for these small club shows. Than, it's off to an arena tour this summer.

Yeah, an 8000 person venue would mean it was bigger than the House of Blues and Hard Rock Live in Orlando combined.

Give or take a few songs, they are playing the best stuff on 21st Century Breakdown, which is making me consider getting tickets for this tour.

Yeah, the only thing they're missing is "Horeshoes and Handgrenades" (even though it rips off The Hives)

Replace 'The Static Age' and 'See the Light' with that and 'Christians Inferno', and it would be perfect for me. Although closing the first act with See the Light is understandable.

The setlists look awesome and I am excited to see the new stuff live but I am not really a fan of arena tours. I want to be as close to the bands as possible. Maybe I will be able to get pit tickets and that might closely resemble a GA show.

Anybody who goes to a show to see a band play only hits and gets pissed when they don't is fucking retarded. The band should be able to play whatever they want, if you were truly a fan you wouldn't give a shit.
