The official teaser trailer for the long-awaited film Clerks 2 (http://www.clerks2.com) has been put online. Check it out here (http://www.clerks2.com).
Note - a close friend of mine was one of 50 individuals selected to view an early screening of the film based on essay-style submission via Kevin Smith's messageboard last month. Although he is legally bound to silence on the film's details, he has told me that it's by far one of Smith's finest films to date.

i don't understand the hype around kevin smith. i thought dogma was one of the worst movies of all time, and i just don't find his stuff funny at all. am i in the minority here?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.. although I have a feeling a lot of people in this board probably enjoy his films because they appeal to our audience demographic I've found (heck, I love his films.) But I totally see why some people find his flicks unbearable (even if I don't)

early reviews meaning early opinions. no one from that site has seen the movie, thus far people from Smith's messageboard and close friends only.

NOT true. I was invited to an early screening by Kevin Smith and Clerks 2 is nothing short of amazing. From beginning to end, if you have followed Dante and Randall in the first flick, you'll love 'em even more in Clerks 2, which is more of a continuation than a sequel.

..a continuation literally set 10 years after the first movie. yes, it's true.

according to some early reviews on aintitcoolnews
The aintitcoolnews talkbacks have, from what I heard, been infamous for hating on Kevin Smith as well. I don't know much about it besides the fact that they are 14 year old boys who rag on Smith films. He has responded to their beefs on a number of occasions as well, so of course they would hate it.
my bad, i meant early reports from the set, not reviews.
And reports from the SET? I don't think these fine folks saw the movie edited on the set, so I wouldn't trust their opinions.

He means the trailer. The actual flick is jawdropping.

Yeah, they work at Mooby's now, 10 years later. My lips are sealed about what happened to the Quick Stop as I'm sworn to secrecy.

Kevin Smith is making a very unique brand of movies, with a very unique sense of humour, which you either get, or you don't. Personnally, the man (or the beast) is one of my idols, as his way of writing dialogues and directing actors is a great inspiration to me. Then again I know a lot of people who absolutely hate him, and that's okay. I can't wait to see Clerks 2!

one of smith's finest films to date? are you calling mallrats a triumph? are you stating that dogma was a masterpiece, rivalling accredited films such as schindler's list and taxi driver?
i'll believe that it'll be semi-funny, but that's about where his movies end.

August or September.. no official date set yet but those are the projected months. Too far away if you ask me.
I love Clerks.
I didn't really like Dogma, but that may have been because I didn't understand most of the religious references. (I'm a Jew)

No your not. I think Clerks, as well as Kevin Smith, are over-rated. Sequels to crappy movies have been made before (see: Underworld), and it will continue in the future. The topic of Hollywood being out of ideas has been beaten to death, but again, this is a fine example of a douche bag and movie studios trying to milk a "franchise" for every drop. :D

Wow... Dude, Please don't talk that way about something you don't understand. Believe me, I'm the first in line to criticize Hollywood for spitting out shitty sequels and remakes, but in NO WAY can you talk about Clerks2 (or any of Smith's films) like that. That movie has been a labour of love for the filmmaker, one he's spent the last five years thinking about, writing for and hesitating about doing for fear of disappointing anyone with a "shitty sequel". Comparing this to Underworld... I mean... I don't know what to say. You can not appreciate Kevin Smith's films, but your comment was just really really wrong...

Smith seems like a damn nice guy and has made some great movies (Chasing Amy being one of my top 10), I'm just not that into the idea of him retreading old ground.Don't get me wrong I'll support the flick and I'm sure it'll be funny as hell but something won't feel quite right about it.
Don't expect much from the direction but the script should be marvellous.

Bullshit. The people in the movie will only do well if the movie does well, including Kevin Smith. This isn't for the money. This is about giving respect to the character to brought him where he is today. After he worked on the Clerks 10th anniversary, he felt he owed it to the characters and the fans. Well, at least for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
So please do not question the intergrity of this movie, because he's doing it for everyone except himself. And he's earned my respect for that.

All new ground, sir. And trust me, Smith had to think long and hard before he went back to Clerks. It took 10 years to happen and its not just another Underworld crapped out. You'll enjoy it.
