that's what i like to hear! haha.
but really, i like the patriots even when i try to look at this objectively. the pats D was a mess last time they played denver. no seymour, no bruschi, and vrabel was just making his 1st start of the season. duane starks starting that game too. I think Brady has a big game and the D takes care of business. 27-14 Pats.

you guys are on drugs.
unless teddy bruschi comes back at 100%, there is ZERO... repeat ZERO chance of us stopping the run in this game and thus, we're gonna get pwned.
believe me, ill be rooting for the patriots... but i am VERY VERY concerned about this matchup.

the broncos are going to have their hands full trying to create running lanes. they didnt have to worry about richard seymour last time and vince wilfork has developed into one of the best tackles in the league throughout the season ...the jags had no answer for him. colvin, vrabel, beisel and brown are more than sufficient enough at LB too. i'm not concerned about our ability to stop the run against any team ..its the secondary that still makes me nervous.

Vrabel started every game this year.
Starks was awful in this game, but the secondary won't be that much improved for this meeting.
The Patriots historcially struggle in Denver, the best homefield advantage in the NFL, and Shanahan has this offense running very wel. Plummer isn't throwing picks, and they can run inside and outside with Bell/Anderson. Their pass defense is kind of weak, but they should get a decent pass rush. I don't see the Patriots running game doing much here on the road, and I see Brady struggling on the road, like he usually does against this team. Denver will win in a game that's closer than the last one.
i was so rooting for cincy to win yesterday because with palmer out i knew denver would kill them... but now we have the pats..one of those teams you just dont want to play in the playoffs.... this game has me worried but i think shanahan will have his team ready because if they go out in one game this year too the people here in colorado wont be to happy to say the least.

that was vrabel's first game at inside linebacker though. he's stated publicly it took him a long time to adjust.
regardless, this is a completely different team with richard seymour. the run defense was ranked as high as sixth after he returned (they were 27th without him). denver won't be completely shut down, but the damage will be little. They won't be jumping out to any 28-3 leads.
Brady had to attempt 46 passes against Denver because they fell behind. A more balanced offensive attack and a much better defense looks like a Pats win to me.

also, we had no dillion, and no faulk, and mankins got ejected early in the game. and we still almost came back from being down 25 points.

here's what's going to happen,
pats go up 14-0 in the first half due to jake plummer throwing two early INTs, then blow it by failing to get a running game going, it runs to 21-17 broncos, pats score a TD, broncos score one, pats score one more with 1:15 left, pats fail a 2 pt conversion and get the big stop at the end.
pats rush for a total of 60 yards
brady throws for 350 with 2 TDs and 1 int
Plummer throws for 300 with 3 TDs and 2 INT

You have to look at Belichick vs. Shanahan in the past 5 seasons
2001: DEN wins 31-20 - Brady throws 4 interceptions in the 4th quarter, one returned for a TD
2002: DEN wins 24-16 - Portis rushes for 111 and 2 TDs, Brady only throws for 130, sacked 5 times
2003: NE wins 30-26 - NE needed a 4th quarter comeback with an intentional safety, forced 3 and out which included a false start, all while Denver played their 3rd string QB, Danny Kanell. Portis rushed for 111 yards again.
2005: DEN wins 28-20 - Big plays set up 28-3 lead and Patriots put up points in garbage time.

so then by your logic Bellichek owns Cowher and Dungy, and you'd expect NE to defeat both Pitt and Indy in the next round if they were to get by Denver?

Pats all the way!
The last leg of the season for the Pats consisted of (This is how the Pats "came back", according to the media):
Miami
Jets (2x)
Tampa Bay
Buffalo
So no teams that could really test the Pats secondary, and the last team that could? Kansas City wins 26-16. Once the run is established, Jake will throw on the weak Pats secondary. If this was in Foxboro it might be a different story, but it's not. The Pats have all the playoff mystic but if you look at this based on the 2005 season alone, it's Denver all the way. I do see it high scoring, total probably in the 50s, since Denver's seconday isn't the greatest either. 31-24 Denver.
Also, the Pats only came back in the last game because Denver called off the dogs once they were up 28-6 in the 3rd.

This is right. They've lost 5 games this year (forget the Miami one), and look at who the QB's were
Jake Delhomme
Drew Brees
Jake Plummer
Peyton Manning
Trent Green
All are Pro Bowl QB's. The best QB they beat was Roethlisberger, and they needed their last second FG to do that. They've taken advantage of weak offenses and teams down the stretch.

yeah, but at the same time you have to look at who was in the lineup for the pats when they played those QB's. Duane Starks alone is repsonsible for losing most of those games. no bruschi, no seymour, vrabel being moved into a new position that he's never played, bringing people in off the street to play in the secondary. also, you have to look at the other side of the ball, without having dillon or faulk they couldn't establish the run and they couldn't control the clock, they left their defense on the field for too long and they couldn't make the stops on 3rd down to get off. when the pats got the ball back they had to play from behind and with all the injuries on the offesive side of the ball it made it that much harder.

Jake Delhomme didn't even have a good game, and Carolina still won. NE just wasn't that good this year as past seasons. I don't believe in Dillon at all, his days as a starter look shot to me. He hesitates when he runs this season. He won't be much of a factor against Denver. They're better off with Faulk.

I hate to agree with this but i do. Dillon hasnt been the same runner this season as last, healhy or not. The pats are better off putting faulk in there more often.

he doesn't have to have a 100+ yards to be effective though, he just needs to pick up the short yardage and give the threat of play action. faulk had a much better game but that is set up by dillon. when faulk is in the defense has to be worried about him recieving out of the backfield or on screens so it opens up the running game for him a little bit more. you just have to keep pounding away with dillion, whether he's putting up big numbers or not, to keep the defense honest. i agree though he hasn't been himself this year, in large part to him being injured, but i think these last couple weeks he's been healthy.

Yeah but 17 carries for 40 yards isn't effective. Faulk had big holes and he hit them fast. Dillon has run like a little bitch all year, and no one can figure out why. He's had injuries, but he also hasn't been productive when he was healthy. I really think his days as an every down, 300 carry back are over.

that could be, most RB die out when they hit 30 yrs old. unfortunately with the patriots, you can never be sure if a player is still injured or not.

Why are their players always hurt? Did they cut back on medical help a few years ago? Seems like the trainers and staff don't know how to keep these guys on the field.

there was a lot of talk about that early in the year, but there are injuries like harrison and light that can't be explained by blaming the training staff. the best theory is that they've played 6 extra games over the past 2 years, and they don't have as much time to recover after the season ends, as most teams in the NFL. but by the same token, there are other teams that have a ton of injuries, look at green bay, i think its just bad luck. also, a couple guy i don't think are even hurt, they are just put on IR to spare them some embarrasment of being benched and to free up a roster spot (Duane Starks.)
