I have no where else to host the songs...

well sure but I always thought they were hosted on the site. And Rapidshare is a bit faster to download from

I kinda don't like having porn ads popup when I'm just trying to preview some bands. This might be overkill, but you could always set up a bittorrent tracker and cut the bandwidth costs if you don't have any way to host this stuff straight-up on AP.

Porn pop-ups are the best. Who doesn't love it when you try to close one and five more open? I know I do, I fucking love that shit.

Good idea.

I don't think I've seen many legit music sites use bittorrent yet, but there's plenty of examples of other types of media using it for legal distribution methods. If you're interested in some ideas, one of the biggest legal trackers I've ever seen is a.scarywater.net (http://a.scarywater.net/) -- an anime fansub distrobution site. Just look at the charts at the bottom of the page to get an idea of how much traffic they help facilitate.

Here's some other resources:
- BitTorrent Server Guide (Official) (http://www.bittorrent.com/guide.html)
- BitTorrent FAQ and Guide (http://dessent.net/btfaq/#tracker)

Another potential contact would be whoever runs Cobalt and Calcium (http://www.cobaltandcalcium.com/) - the Coheed & Cambria fan site. I believe they use a tracker to host their media files (though you can't get to it now without being a member of their forum and a "financial contributor" to the site).

It's whole purpose is for legal distribution of data, it is a great piece of technology that has been "abused" for other uses. This is a great idea though
