JT Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights (http://www.hawthorneheights.com) has reached a distribution deal with Victory Records for his new label, Carbon Copy Media. The press release is below.
Chicago, IL - Cincinnati based Carbon Copy Media has entered into an exclusive, long-term distribution and upstream pact with Victory Records on a worldwide basis. JT Woodruff, Founder of Carbon Copy Media and lead singer for Victory recording Artist Hawthorne Heights said, "Working with Tony and Victory will allow our artists to grow beyond any and all expectations. Starting this label and music media company has been a dream of mine for a very long time. I am very happy that Victory and I always share the same passion and vision. Our first two bands are Cincinnati's own Ellison, and Crown Point, Indiana's Asteria. Expect big things from these bands come May, as well as a few other exciting releases from the Carbon Copy Media/Victory family.”
“One of the reasons Hawthorne Heights has been successful is because they talk to, care about and truly interact with their fans online and before and after every performance,” says Victory’s Tony Brummel. “JT makes himself very accessible. As the singer of one of the biggest rock bands in America he is also very noticeable. Every day he gets a tremendous amount of music that he enthusiastically listens to. A&R happens on the street and JT is on the street every day. If the bands do well with JT they will have the opportunity to be uplifted to Victory. Hawthorne Heights’ current album is the third longest running rock album on the Top 200. Obviously, that has happened for a reason. We are expanding our collective passion and that is a very special thing to be a part of.”
Ugh....That's all I'll say.

i don't think hawthorne heights is anything special, but they are polite to their fans...i'll give them that. especially when they apologized to us at warped tour for stealing our state's motto - "virginia is for lovers."

I wouldn't call them one of the biggest rock bands in music today. Their are far bigger ones. I'd say they are up and comers who are gaining alot of momentum, but when I think biggest rock bands I think of mainstream rock like U2 and pearl jam and stuff like that.
I guarantee I will like this as much as Victory...meaning I won't

this is stupid. make some good music first, then try to start a record label.

I hope you guys aren't trying to blast me for the wording of the release. I didn't write it; I merely posted the e-mail that was sent to me containing the release. Remember that publicity teams' jobs are to talk up their clients. Victory does a damn good job of that--there's a reason they outsell all the other independent labels (and it's not just the rabid street team). If you think about it, making it to the Billboard 200 does make you one of the biggest acts in the country. It puts you in the upper class of bands based on sales.
I'm not defending Hawthorne Heights because I'm certainly not a fan, but it's not all that farfetched. A number of us dislike them, but there are a ton of people who actually bought the record.

Everyone on here bashes Hawthorne Heights for being unoriginal and cliche just to name a couple. But all of this bashing seems to be cliche. Hawthorne Heights is a good band, that has accomplished what mostly every band tries too. They made it, be proud for them. And these 2 bands J.T. signed are pretty good. Can't wait for the new HH cd in February!

Well, weather you like them or not. They are one of the biggest "rock" acts in america or whatever genre you wanna call it, its all rock pretty much. U2 and Pearl jam are just examples of the pinnacle of giant rock acts. Anyhow, its hardly a debatable topic but Im just throwing in my opinion

Say what you will, but that guy is laughing all the way to the bank. You gotta realize how big it is to be the third longest running cd on the billboard. I mean, there's green day, still seeling 50k per week, one more, then hawthorne heights. And they're on victory.

First off. this label has nothing to do with Hawthorne Heights. It has to do with Jt. and Jt happens to be a very smart buisness man who has experienced the buisness first hand. Have you listen to the two bands? They are amazing, nothing cliche about it. So be bitter all you want, any band on this label will do great things.
But as for Hawthorne- Man you guys are right, they must be horrible, they've only sold over 700,00 copies of thier first release.

Actually, I only hear people bash them when they're mentioned. They don't radnomly say Hawthorn Heights sucks. The more they are mentioned, the more shit will be talked about them. They are not a good band. A good band would be Between The Buried and Me (the only good band on Victory). Let me explain.
Hawthorn Heights = Horrible clean vocals, horrible and misplaced screaming vocals, power chords being played buy THREE different guitar players, a few simple and uncreative leads, a couple arpeggios played here and there, and derivitive pop (which makes it catchy) song structures and arrangements. Basically, its simple music, for the simple (sometimes dumb) song listener.
Between The Buried and Me = Incredible clean vocals with outstanding range, same goes for the screaming vocals, complex song structures and timings, amazing guitar work, artistic arrangement, and just overall very talented musicians creating music to the fullest of their abilities.
If you didn't get the picture through that explanation, I'll say it like this: Hawthorne Heights = kindergarten stick figure drawing, BTBAM = Monet's Boulevard des Capucines.
And as for the bands that dude is signing, they're just as bad, if not even worse.

ya know, honestly, i won't defend Asteria's music, because I am not a fan in the least, but they are hard working kids who promote the shit out of themselves. Not just through internet either, anywhere you go in this area of hell called Northwest Indiana, you can see them or hear about them from someone. Even if you don't like their music, in the end, the will sell albums, just like Hawthorne Heights.

Hardworking? Oh you must mean their parents who financially support them.
Anyone can make it in this business if you have the money. No talent or creativity is needed.

I know who you are and it's not like you ever did anything musically that was good or worth listening to so stop bashing this band who has obivoulsly earned what they get. They write catchy music that is mainstream and is obviously something good, I mean...why else would they have over 300,000 plays on Purevolume? Seriously man, cut the shit and just respect something really good finnally coming out of the area since Ateriavia.
