Check out a great article on why the Bears are a legitimate contender to go all the way. (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=dw-bears010406&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)

Kyle Orton commits less mistakes and has been the better player (rex last year, Orton this year) Rex could be why they lose to the Panthers.

i give the bears credit, but that article doesn't really back up many of its statements very well. just saying that if the bears score 21 that they'll beat indy means nothing. bears haven't faced a team like indy and their offense, regardless if they score 21 on indy's d(which they won't).
for the record, i'm pulling for the bears out of the nfc.

i laughed my ass off when we sacked delhomme 8 times and held the panthers to 3 points...when they were averaging 28.
have faith in your team....
you said IF...you should say WHEN...
like WHEN the bears beat the panthers...im not going to laugh, because i expect them to win.

I really pulled for him every time he was out there on the field, the guy just has bad luck I guess. If he gets injured in this game, there's no way there isn't a jinx on him.

Rex Grossman is the best quarterback to ever play in the NFL. That is why the bears will win. ;)

Was a joke, but I think he would have played better. I think the Wide Outs lost the game more then the QB. Rex did throw some good passes but they (recievers) we dropping 'em. Even Mushin (or whatever) was dropping passes. Maybe he was used to Orton's arm heh.
Oh, and the Secondary for the bears didn't even show up.

They showed up. It's not their fault they can't match up against Steve Smith and that the defensive coaching staff didn't do much to help the situation by individually putting Charles Tillman and Chris Thompson on him man-lock.
There was no excuse for it, because DeShaun Foster was hurt, so there's only one other big play player on their team, no way he should have gotten free so many times.

Definately. The bears had schemes all year that put pressure on the QB while containing his targets. You'd think though after the first TD and how many ever catches they'd double team him. They safety always seemed to be late or he'd just completely outplay them (when he caught the ball inbetween two defenders then wrestled the ball away from Tillman, I believe, while coming down).

um, no, it is their fault. They're supposed to be this nearly historically great defense and you let the guy go off like that? But, the coaching staff deserves the blame for the loss.
1.) you don't double steve smith, rather, just play him one on one. And you don't use your top corner? Um, what?
2.) you run the ball all year and then go 2/1 pass/run ratio? It was like they've never coached before. horrible.

i'm sorry, but every single ex football player on ESPN saying they're as good as the '85 bears doesn't make it the truth. they were overhyped in comparison to the 85 bears, period.
i'm pretty sure you contradicted yourself by saying it was their fault, and then saying the coaching staff deserves blame for the loss. the coaching staff blew it. when you don't double steve smith and your quarterback, rex grossman, is throwing the ball 41 times in the game you're asking to be beaten.

that jump ball is sickening if you're a bears fan. it sums up the whole game. worst part...
Steve Smith: 5 foot, 9 inches
Charles Tillman: 6 foot, 1 inch
no excuse for that. so yeah, you could say that steve smith out played them, you could also say that he, and the panthers, wanted the game more.

yes, re-reading my statement it was self-contradictory. but i did throw in 'supposed to be' meaning, i don't think they were historically great, but that's the way they've been hyped by all the analyst's licking their balls all season long.
But it's half the players fault and half the coaches fault is what i guess i was trying to say.
Charles Tillman cannot be that fucking bad if he's a starting CB on the leagues best defense. The defense as a whole played subpar to their usual standards.
And the coaching staff.. well, enough said about them.

oh yeah, totally. the players are to blame for sure, when it comes down to it, it wasn't lovie smith out there covering steve smith. but the gameplan they had set defensively set them up to fail. tillman is a great cb, also, he just wasn't getting help. thompson had no place covering steve smith man-up, though.
