I realize that the result have been announced, but who do you think deserves the title of American Idol 2009?
Are you happy with the results? Or do you think Adam Lambert should have won?
I, for one, am very pleased with the results. I was cheering for Kris, but never thought he had a chance against Adam. I think both are extremely talented vocalists, but I prefer Kris's voice over Adams; however, I think Adam is a great entertainer and has outstanding stage presence.

American Idol has never had a male winner go on to become a popstar. Kris has popstar potential. Hs isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I can see his fan base going beyond the American Idol audience. I don't think anyone who watched this season doesn't know what Kris Allen's album will sound like.
Although Adam is a talented singer, I can't imagine picking up my iPod and listening to his album... I'm not even sure what his album would sound like.
Adam needs to realize that like it or not, he belongs on the broadway stage. Simon should call his buddy Bono and get Adam an audition for the Spiderman musical.

I didn't really watch, but I was happy that Kris won just because he wasn't such a cocky douche like Adam.

Kris is extremely generic with an average voice. If he didn't win, everyone would have forgotten who he was within a matter of months. He's the new Taylor Hicks.
Adam has the potential to become legendary. No one there could touch his talent. He is the World Idol.

Mark my words, American Idol will cease to exist within 2 years. I'd actually be surprised if they tried to do it for another season. The show is completely irrelevant as far as the world of music is concerned. No person I know that is a true music fans gives a damn about what I going on on that show. They've only managed to spawn ONE really successful artist (Kelly Clarkson). And to top it all off, last night was their least watched season finale in the show's history. AI is crashing and burning and I couldn't be happier.

I didn't really watch much of this season, but I thought Adam was going to win, but good for Kris.

Not that I watch this show or care who wins it...but it has managed to spawn more than one successful artist. Carrie Underwood has had just as much if not more success than Kelly Clarkson. Daughtry has done pretty well for himself as well. I do hope this show dies soon though.

Almost 100 million votes were cast during the finale this week, and there were 27.5 million viewers(which is not the least watched finale in the shows history)! I definitely wouldn't say that it is crashing.
Also, I think American Idol has produced more than just one legitimate music career. As you said, there is Kelley Clarkson, but there is also Carrie Underwood, Jordan Sparks, Chris Daughtry, David Archuleta, and David Cook. Plus, Idol has lunched many contests into careers on Broadway, including Clay Akain, Tamyra Gray, Diana DeGarmo, and Frenchie Davis. The show may not be creating Super Stars, but it is definitely giving vocalists opertunities and success that they would not have otherwise.
However, with the departure of Simon next season, I do think it will ratings will plummet, and the series will have ended within the next few years.

Definitely, Simon is the only judge who ever has a decent opinion, and what would Seacrest talk about if Simon wasn't there??
It's good for Adam that he lost, now he doesn't have to sing 'No Boundaries' anymore. If he could contain himself a little better, he could make a nice sounding rock and roll album. I cringed every time he unleashed the obligatory screams, but otherwise he had some nice performances.

Kris Allen fits neatly into the bland mainstream singer-songwriter mold both sonically and physically so it made more sense for him to win than some ostentatious over-singer who dresses like he's 14.

Adam lambert he deserved to win the only reason the other guy won was because girls voted for him cause he was cute
Adam deserved it... he's a phenominal vocalist, and there was definitely a hunger in him that I didnt see in Chris. I dont really care though.

Kris is the one whose album I could actually see myself listening to, especially if he goes the Mraz-esque route.
