What would you like to see improved about this website? I like to think this is more of the visitor's website then mine, so please let me know your thoughts!

Jason,

This site pretty much RULES....I was going to suggest maybe have the news topics in different groups based on genre, but you are already pretty much putting them into groups by artist which is probably more logical...good work man!

Better moderation in the generals because the recent onslaught of unintelligent people is really out of hand.

more pictures. i know this would proabably be a pain, but a searchable list of shows everywhere.

Ummm my only complaint is that when I want to search a review it really doesn't search.

It just gives me the list of all of them in alphabetical order. Which is alright, but an actual search would be quite useful.

I concur. And I'm not sure how you feel about this Tate. I realize it's kind of a branch out, but I wouldn't mind movie reviews.

someone to review records by metal bands like Children of Bodom, Mastadon, Opeth, Lamb of God, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Blind Guardian, Meshuggah, etc.

I guess, just someone thats more into Progressive Metal type stuff and different metal genres in general (Death, Black, Swedish, Doom, etc.)

:hint: look my way :hint:

I think that would be sweet if we had some sort of show database where we could sort shows by area or something. That would make it way easier to find shows in the area. just a thought

I'd really like to hear an ap.net podcast, i remember their being a link saying coming soon on the site not so long ago. Punktastic.com in the UK which is in many ways a British AP.net has just launched theres and its been very well recieved with exclusives plus interviews and more.

Apart from that keep up the good work, nowhere else seems to have the volume of news you do.

I think everyone on staffed is doing what they should be, don't get me wrong. Everyone here works their asses off and it shows, but I believe a lot of them should be cut for the fact that they all like the same thing and have a lot of the same opinions, and maybe let some new people become staffers. I believe this site lacks diversity in places.

I can do metal reviews...just didnt know if anyone cared. I'm more into the death metal/grindcore stuff, kinda don't listen to prog though, so, yeah. Maybe I'll post a few and see how many people are interested.

since the picture database is getting so big and so many of them are tagged with keywords, it would be cool to incorporate some of those photos into the main page, or even just the news posts themselves. It would look really cool and probably promote more images to be submitted, and would give more exposure to good photographers.

Easy, noted. I think maybe that's a good idea. Should we highlight just live images, or all MM?

I think you should post how you feel about CDs instead of just posting the CDs that you enjoy.

I'm not saying you should bash bands, but it seems like reviews only get posted if the reviewer reallllllly enjoys a band. I think discs should be reviewed if they're mediocre, without straying into the bashing side of the arguement.

It would be cool for the images to reflect the post a bit.
If the post is about tour news, show live performances. If it's about an album release, show the album cover, etc. And in a different way than just attached images, perhaps?

I think I have a very diverse music taste separate from other staffers, but there are a lot of bands that the staff have in common. I dunno, I think if you look at the end of the year lists, you'll find a lot of diversity, and even if the same album appears on the list, it may be in a different order and even if it's not, it's probably just a good band/album and deserves all the praise. I can't even put myself into a genre, cause I listen to everything equally. It's hard for some to say "Oh, that Drew Beringer, he is a pop-punk guy," cause I'm not.

i like the site how it is
maybe some more indie coverage
and a local section for various "scenes"
ex: long island would have a section
nj would have one
its just an idea
and in that section can be shows etc.

i like the idea of having columns from "industry insiders" kinda of how thescout.net used to be. I also miss the old "King of the Hill" feature. If the songs were changed weekly it'd be really popular. I wish you guys had videos too.

Maybe us users can upload pictures here from shows and stuff, and have a section dedicated to just that.

Well I even feel bad saying what I did, though I agree. Because everyone works so hard to make this site the way it is. It's so well known and that's awesome.

Maybe I said that because I only hear about the same 50 bands in the pop-punk-emo scene. I'm not by all means saying that I'm not into that stuff. Because a lot of it, I am. I just feel like we can cover so many more areas here. Metal, Hip Hop, 80's New Wave. Just a lot of stuff.

But thanks for reading what I had to say.

Hey Jason,
I'd suggest compacting it a little bit so it doesn't seem like a big mess for newcomers. I just felt like there was way too much going on when i visited the site for the first time, like i was going to have to navigate through a bunch. but it owns now that i'm familiar with it.

A more interactive and prominently featured section for user reviews/recommendations. Perhaps a new forum where users can post recommendations of bands/podcasts/etc. and there should be a simple option allowing others to rate the recommendation on a scale of 1-10 so that we know how viable the recommendation actually is. I've always wanted something like that on this site because it isn't possible for the staff to cover every band that's out there, yet many people post recommendations for their own band or crappy local bands.

I come here predominently to find out about new music and this (or something similar) would be a great way to advance the site.

venues, talk about what venues are good to play/go to and which ones suck. or just info on them; where they are, local ones etc.
and more stuff on the music industry.
oh and like someone already said more interviews with managers, publicists, techs, merch people, ect.

good idea i think - trying to get bands for some acoustic sessions - 2 to 5 songs, that would be possible to do, and that's the only thing that could be really special, i think many bands would do that

i'd like to see some more porn on here. i'd like to see some boobs while checking out tour dates, or a nice rimjob between posts (kind of like how the ads are for non-members), or even better, randomly put pics of money shots when you click on a user's profile pic.

at first you might think, "but super joe, isn't that crude?" and of course it is, but porn always makes people smile. and this world needs a little more happiness.

also, this site could use a little more cowbell.

You should make an option to be able to disregard newsposts about certain bands. That way, we dont have to sift through pages of senses fail and hawthorne heights mail. Also, make a preferred artist option so if posts contain a band that you don't care about, but related news to one that you do, you can still see the post.

This is the greatest idea of all time.

Don't bring back scenepoints, don't allow a slashdot style moderation (site's too cliquey, people will just mod up their friends), less politics, less indie, no mills, more barry bashing.

As previously suggested by someone else, I do think the idea about setting an ignore function on certain band's newsposts is a good idea. Customization is always good.

I think it would be absolutely awesome if each user could set up a "My Absolutepunk.net". Kind of like my.yahoo.com. It would let you personalize what bands/generes you would like to see on your own news site, shows from your area, a personal front page for AP. That would be cool.
