i have a question is it better to have 1 or 2 guitars.....if you have 1 guitar will that make you sound softer or somthing.....so is it better to have 1 or 2 guitars ...or does it depend on the style
well it depends on the style but not that much. like you can have just 1 but then solos may sound kind of soft. so 2 guitars may be better if you want some cool solos. but if you arent gonna do alot of solos just keep it at one guitar.
always have 2 in case u break a string onstage
and u can do different tunings

im pretty sure he meant 2 guitarists. since he asked if 1 would make it sound softer.

wow sifi don't you feel like a douche about now...
it really depends, it pisses me off to see bands with 2 guitarists who both do the same thing in every song, there's no point. if you have 2 guitarists you can do cool harmonies and melodies, but for most punk only one is really necessary, just get a pedal to give it the 2 guitar sound if you care that much.

heres what the band stucture should be:
drummer
backup guitar
lead guitar
bass
either the bass player or the backup guitarist sings and the other 2 give backup vocals. dummers never sing. i hate it when they do that.
thats my opinion at least

Dave Groel sang backup for Nirvana...that was cool, but yeah that's all I can think of.......plus it just looks goofy as hell....Oh wait i just thought of another band that's drummer sings every now and then...sum41.....whoooohoooo
rancid's drummer used to sing.

our drummer used to sing, but we decided it looked really gay, so we picked up a bassist that could sing and i swiched from bass to guitar. it probably would be really hard to sing while playing drums.

I play drums, and I don't think I could do it, it would sounds really jumbled and crappy. Phil Collins did it for Genesis, that's another (tho that's pretty old)...
a kid in a local band here sings and plays drums. he's pretty damn good too.
yea, it's hard to pull off but if you can and make it sound good i don't see what everyone seems to hate about it.

It's just very un-entertaining, some guy sitting down behind a drum set singing...that's not entertaining. And if the guy has a big set, you don't know who the hell is singing unless you're up front. Does anyone else dislike bands that are supposed to be a rock band, and yet have the one lead singer who doesn't play anything. It's not that bad if the guys/girl has good stage presence, but how many different ways are there to jump up and down? Like Fred Durst, cool stage presence, no problem with that, although the music iitself is less than quality but whatever. But the good charolette guy (joel?) just stands there and waves him arms around giving quasi-gang signs and whatnot...Now me personally I think that's worse than the drummer singing
