In an attempt to stave off boredom, I will continue to bump/create threads for artists I enjoy. Would have expected one for Eno already but a search did not yield any relevant results.

So many quality albums by this legend in addition to collaborations. Discuss.

Before and After Science, Another Green World and Here Come The Warm Jets are the only 3 records I own and have heard but all 3 are incredible. I thought I remembered a Eno thread before but I could be wrong.

He's got a shitload of other records to dive into...any reccs?

Nice! Are you into ambient music at all? He's pretty much a staple of that aesthetic and if you are, Discreet Music, Music For Films, Music For Airports, and Apollo: Atmosphere And Soundtracks are worth checking out. Later work is hit or miss but still some stellar material nonetheless.
I thought there was one too but a search came up with nothing other than topics concerning other Brians.
Edit: didn't see your second post. Hmm given the records you already have, try Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) as well as his collabs with David Byrne and John Cale.

I like his production with U2 and Coldplay, and I've heard that he brings his style to his production work. Would I like his music? If so, what should I check out?

I couldn't say if you would enjoy his work. However, if I were to suggest releases to you, probably the same ones I posted in response to Dr. Acula. In other words, the art-pop stuff as opposed to ambient albums.

I've been on an immature pop rock kick as of late, lol, but I'll keep those albums in mind. Thanks.
I found Brian Eno on pandora last year and i really liked the music. I used it as study music for awhile but haven't really listened to it too much.

vinh, in your words, brian eno has alone released multiple "kid A" type albums, and that has had me intrigued by the get go. which is an album like this that you would recommend? dont be afraid to throw me music that would be considered "ambient" either -- i may not be too familiar with it but i am the only person i know who will opt to listen to "treefingers" outside of the full-album, and william doyle and i have collaborated in the past and made a few bad ambient tracks as well.

Everything That Will Happen Happens Today is decent. I prefer My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts frankly, although they certainly don't share much common ground.

Sure that wasn't Todd? I'd be far more inclined to cite influences by Faust, Can, Autechre, and so on than Eno where Kid A is concerned. If you want to get into ambient junk though, give Discreet Music, Music For Airports, Music For Films, and Apollo a listen first. If you'd rather hear something a tad closer to the pop/rock realm while retaining artsy elements, go for Before And After Science.
I don't have any of his albums, but I love his work with the Talking Heads.
Another Green World and Before And After Science. Get into it.

If you're keener on rock than ambient textures, give his first two records (Here Come The Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)) a try.
That record he did with David Byrne last year was the shit. "Strange Overtones" is so good.
IWasaCamera
10/10/09, 10:47 AM
Not a popular view, but I'd say both of his collabs with Byrne are quite good.
There are some crap songs on Everything, of course. "I Feel My Stuff," oof. The slower jams are really nice though. "The Lighthouse" is beautiful. Another Day on Earth is superb, too. Good decade!

Never got into Another Day On Earth sadly. Might give it a spin later today.

I'm listening to Another Green World for the second time ever right now, and I like this a lot more than Before and After Science. After getting into this album some more, maybe I should go back and see if I like that one a little more. (Not that I didn't like it, but it never clicked like this one is right now.)

A little bump for my man Brian. He just put out a new record. I haven't heard it yet, good?
Here's something (http://sunchildspeaks.blogspot.com/2010/11/cat-plaza-2-p-13.html) I wrote for my blog. It's a 5-song crash-course for Eno-beginners.

I checked out Small Craft on a Milk Sea a while ago because it was on Chino's (Deftones) list of top 12 albums. I surprisingly really liked it. It's one of those records you can listen to doing anything and it seems to become a soundtrack for that.
