I downloaded a leak of four tracks on Octahedron. I'm not overly impressed, but I haven't really given it an intense listen yet.

Since We've Been Wrong fails to show the talent they have, as do the other three I've heard. But especially Since We've Been Wrong. They're too simple for TMV.

Used to be in love with this band, but to be perfectly honest I just can't get into them like I used to. Don't get me wrong, Omar is an amazing guitar player, but there's just so much "psych-rock" that I can really take.

The new album is boring, yes. But they'll have a new one out in a couple months.

Amputechture is the hardest one to get into. The band calls it their "autistic child."

I think that while octahedron is catchy, it's not as talent heavy as their other songs. I really liked Their first three, and they were so ace, that even with the bad 4th and 5th albums, I love this band so much. I put up another thread about this band before I found out this was alive. It's opinions on The Mars Volta. Started today, so not heavily populated, but whatever.

Also ATDI=TMV. ATDI had 90% across the board, but TMV has way better and way worse albums...

By the way, Frances is their best album compositionally and musically. It's just well written music. Deloused is decent but I think it's tied with Amputechture since they're both disjointed. Bedlam and Octahedron are both okay. They have their moments.

the jam has some potential..as long as they don't fuck up the production in the studio like Bedlam.

I'd agree tho..Frances is their best work still. Octahedron I felt was a nice comeback of sorts..but my expectations for them are a lot lower than they once were.
