View Full Version : Chad Johnson Takes A Swing At Marvin Lewis?
Goodbye Forever

I can't find anything online about it, but I was listening to the radio this afternoon and apparently there's a report out of Cincinnati that after Sunday's game, Johnson was angry about the lack of balls thrown his way and got into an argument with the Bengals recievers coach. Apparently he ended up putting the guy in a headlock, and when Lewis came over to break it up, Johnson took a swing at him. Supposedly when asked about the incident, members of the Bengals organization said they had no comment on the matter.
Has anyone else heard anything about this? I'd be extremely disappointed if it were true.

What did he expect, it was John Kitna, they were not throwing down field at all.

Yeah, and then he dropped a ball or two that should have been completions (if he wants to be THE top reciever in the league).

Jon Kitna was the only reason they were in the game after the 1st half. You can't ask for much more from a guy who hasnt played all year.

Ya he played great in the first half, i'm just saying he does not have the abilty to throw like Carson, when they really needed it.

Another example of one WR with a mouth overshadowing great ones that dont talk.

Likewise, i am a fan of rice. Im disappointed in Basketball so far, but it's still early. We are doing much better in hockey than i expected though. Im so pissed i dont have tickets, almost every girl i know got them of coarse.
Damn we're loosing at half time.

Yeah, it would be all over Sports talk radio, because they have nothing to talk about really now with football being just a few games a weekend.

It's all over profootballtalk.com. The story there is a little different than the one I heard. I guess because it's a rumor no major outlet wants to pick the story up.

Yeah, because forum rumors are usually not true (see band break-ups on this site).
“He would have sat me,” said Johnson when asked what would have happened if he swung at Lewis or Jackson.
I think that is largely true too, Lewis doesn't seem like he likes to put up with player bullshit.

Well he's not going to admit to swinging at marvin lewis.
But i'm not so sure that it happened either.
But the real question: How quick would Marvin Lewis destroy Chad Johnson in a fight?

He'll never be as bad as Terrell Owens.

CJ would have been cut faster than a blind person in a knife fight if this rumor were true. Marvin doesn't put up with anyone's shit.

Yeah, thats why I thought it wasn't true. No way in hell he plays a play in the second half, no matter how bad your team is losing.

yeah right
chad johnson is a rich black dude with gold teeth, obviously his posse would jump marvin lewis in the first place
or he'd just put the coach on blast.:guns:

haha. i guess that is true.
But, one on one, you'd have to take Lewis in a quick bout.

This might be going out on a limb here... but I'm guessing Donovan McNabb is better than Jon Kitna. But that could have NOTHING to do with it... right?

TO played one playoff game with McNabb. I'm hoping you know the NFL existed before 2004.

And that's a pretty weak excuse, considering it's the same Jon Kitna that Chad Johnson was able to get 90 catches for 1355 yards and 10 TDs from in 03 when he went to the Pro Bowl.

Ok... so I'm guessing Steve Young and Jeff Garcia (in his prime) are both better than Kitna. Or am I just full of shit?

Kitna is not very good. He had one decent season.... one... and the fact that he was in double and sometimes triple coverage and not being thrown to... maybe just has something to do with it. Maybe.

I don't know about you but, I'd conside these two seasons great years...
AT CO % Yds AVG TD INT Rating
2000 SFO 355 561 63.3 4278 7.6 31 10 97.6
2001 SFO 316 504 62.7 3538 7.0 32 12 94.8
and ignore that it isn't showing up right.. you can figure it out.

so you only need two good years to have a "prime" part of your career?

Those two years.. were the prime of his career. Look at his numbers since. I was making a point that Garcia in his prime (those two seasons) is better than Jon Kitna.... but obviously you didn't pick that up.

Great receivers will produce with bad QB's. Chad Johnson dropped a TD and another big completion in that game. He didn't come to play in the biggest game of his career.

Not always. I'm defending Chad here... but someone needs to be able to throw the ball to the reciever... that's kind of how it works. The best WRs in the NFL aren't on the worst teams or with the worst QBs... see: Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, etc.

no i picked that up and get what you're saying. i would just think you'd have to have more of a run than just two years to be considered the "prime" of someone's career.

A word of advice to Chad Johnson:
If one wants to behave like TO, one must play like TO. Sorry Chaddy.
