Cast: Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.
Today, the world woke up to find spaceships over every major city. The Visitors claim to have come in peace, bringing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs. They promise to do no harm. They're lying.
Most people believe the aliens have arrived just when we needed them most. We're eager to embrace their generous offers of help, but while tracking a terrorist cell, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans stumbles upon something far more sinister. Erica discovers that the aliens have plans to infiltrate our governments and businesses, planting seeds for their plot to control mankind. Convincing anyone of the truth will be impossible because the Visitors have two powerful weapons. First, they've given the people faith with their reassuring presence and gifts. Second, they've rallied our youth. Thousands of teens, including Erica's son, have been recruited as 'Peace Ambassadors' but they're actually serving as unwitting spies. When Erica gets thrust into the resistance movement, she'll have to balance her covert activities with her job and her role as a mother, fighting to protect her son Tyler - even as he joins forces with the enemy.
From executive producer Scott Peters, Emmy-nominated creator of The 4400, comes a bold re-imagining of the sci-fi classic. Let the invasion begin.
The series is produced by HDFilms in association with Warner Bros. Television. Scott Peters is executive producer/writer and Steve Pearlman and Jace Hall are executive producers.

Well, it's not like TV hasn't been remaking sci-fi shows for decades... (star trek, battlestar galactica, land of the lost)

They're even remaking classic television shows now, too. Fuck Hollywood.
Maybe it won't be awful. The guy who produced F.E.A.R. is the Executive Producer for this. I'll hope for the best.

I was more making the connection that all that is coming out these days seems to be remakes, "re-boots", or "re-imaginings". It might be decent and I'll give it a shot because of how big of a fan I am of the original mini-series, but I just hate the unoriginality these days, that's all.
Yea I'm sick of all the rehash as well
I love the original series I'll be checking this out

I'm sure there are even more examples

To be fair (and why should we not be fair, for are we not men), neither of you were born when the original V miniseries came out. The television series ran from 84-85. So really you could have only learned about it after the fact, and from that perspective it's completely understandable why someone could not know about it.

i'm assuming anyone browsing the entertainment forum at ap has a fairly decent and wide knowledge of entertainment. therefore you should know what V is.

This could only lead to bad news for my love of Juliet on Lost...but honestly the first thing I thought when I heard about this was those two episodes of Twilight Zone the one where the alien comes in and gives them the cure for cancer but they kill him and destroy the gift because of fear, and the episode where the aliens come and basically trick everyone into going to their home planet to be eaten.

This Dissident guy is a huge asshole.
I've never heard of the old mini-series so I won't be watching this show, because I guess that's not allowed. Shucks!
This looks really good.
There's not enough good suspenful/mystery-ish shows on TV besides Lost, I'm definitely giving it a chance.

I don't see why you care so much about this to be such an asshole. If you have nothing to add to this thread, then leave. There is no point in arguing over something so insignificant.
With that being said, I can't wait to watch this. It looks really interesting, and I love Elizabeth Mitchell.

I know they said even with this being picked up, she would be in numerous episodes. Not sure what level, but we have no idea where they are taking the show.

But every so often, they find a new way to kind of re-imagine the death.
I was being sarcastic with my first post because I don't care what get's rebooted. Everything seems to be fair ground so I'm never surprised. If it sucks, it sucks and we still have the original. If it's good, that's fine too. It's interesting to see what people are able to do with an original work. I don't get all the bitching about it.
starseed
05/23/09, 03:38 PM
To be honest, on some level I can see the point of rebooting an old franchise rather than create an original property, because if we start with the assumption that there are no more completely new ideas and everything from here on out will be similar to something else, then why not use that something else as a launching pad? I can imagine the line of thinking. It's like, hey, I want to make a show about an alien invasion, but rather than call it something else and do all that work to promote it, we can just make it a reboot of an older series that people might remember, and that way we get some extra bonus promotion out of the deal cause people will see the name and start talking about it.

the whole point of this messageboard is to argue over insignificant shit. i'm the farthest thing from pretentious, i watch con air at least once a month for christ's sake, but yeah i expect people to have at least HEARD of V.

I can't really argue the point cause I dish out barbs as much as anyone, although I never do it with the intent to offend, cause I don't feel like I gain anything from pissing someone off. I gotta confess though that even though I knew about V, I didn't realize it was so significant that everyone should know about it. Maybe I'm just less critical about stuff like that cause I know there's a lot of stuff I don't know about that might be obvious to others.
