Did everyone forget what it is to play music? or what shows are about?
I feel like everyone has forgotten about being passionate, and has started to focus on how its cool to be in band.
Everythings going downhill, so much garbage is erupting from local scenes, and foolish labels are looking to make a pretty penny. and kids dont even know that theyre embarrasing themselves, a few $$$ can blind most anyone. but its time for the people that remember and care about bringing respect to the musical table to take a stand and do everything and anything they can to give music back its integrity. agreed?

You aren't looking hard enough. Sure there are bands who aren't really into what they are playing, in it for the money, et cetera. But there are just as many bands who give it their all even when playing for 20 kids or whatever. Just stop complaining and look on the bright side (sorry to sound cliche there)

Because Green Day are sacrificing all integrity by conforming and censoring their new album to sell at WalMart and make more money, right? Oh wait...

Stop watching bands that only 15 year olds like and you'll find some passionate bands that are in it for the music and not the chance to get some underage pussy.

Edit: Jk, I actually play music because I enjoy it. Underage tang is just a bonus.

im not saying that there arent people that still care, im just saying that there are way too many people who dont. and its not that im griping or being unaware of my surroundings, its just that im tired of everywhere i look the real bands are being put under the bands who desevre their name on a flyer.

ive toured a ton, i was in a band that had hella bad openers every night, but at least there were the select few that deserved their spot on the package. but now i try to go to a local show in my home town and see zero respectable acts and hear nothing but the wrong ideas come out of promoters and on lookers mouths.

i wish that the bands that are working so hard to keep music breathing would grow more plentiful and give the entire industry a makeover.

The OP's statement is retarded.

There's a whole fucking world full of passionate and "real" music out there, but not a lot of that music consists of mad beetz to get crunk tew up in da club so it's less popular and thus harder to find.

Although honestly, it's not that hard to find at all.

well, for a second there, i thought we might actually start a discussion on older music listeners compared to younger ones but then it turned into a classic "you obviously care what i said" argument.

Kind of agree with that.

Lets think about it though - it is possible to be passionate and want to make a decent living too. Remember that being a professional musician means you have to make money from your muisc, so why not make as much as you can?

idk about all your local music situations.

but here in northern new jersey, its fucking great.

so many great bands started with basement and vfw shows here, and its really all that keeps me intact with music now.

bands like trophy scars, red light green light, and lady radiator all show that we can still swim through the muck to get to the island of music/shows that dont suck.
