I'm just curious what you guys think of the whole situation. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, I'll try to summarize it the best that I can.
WWE was scheduled to have their Monday night program in Denver at the Pepsi Center this Monday for a live broadcast of Raw is War. Denver Nuggets made the playoffs and NBA scheduling put the Nuggets/Lakers game in Denver on Monday night. WWE t secured the Pepsi Center for this date last August. (over 8 months ago) On April 15th, one week before the end of the regular season, the WWE and Pepsi Center re-confirmed the event. The WWE had 11,000 tickets sold and was expecting a sell-out before Monday. With no where to go, the WWE was invited to the Staples Center in LA to hold the event. WWE accepted, but only after Denver made it clear that there was absolutely no chance WWE would get the event for that night.
So who is in the wrong here? Put personal opinions aside. I'm not a WWE fan, but I feel like they definitely were mis-treated.
Other things to consider:
-WWE is the second largest traveling show (first is Ringling Brothers circus). So moving a show of this size on short notice isn't an easy task.
-WWE is already scheduled to be in LA on Tuesday for a different event. So ticket sales are expected to be down because of the short notice and because a lot of LA's "wrestling fans" probably won't be able to go to both events.
-NBA and the Denver Nuggets organization probably stand to gain more revenue off of the playoffs game.
-Entertainment vs Sports. Should one be held higher?
Sorry this was so long. I just find the scheduling conflict kind of interesting and would be curious to see what others think about it.
