I highly doubt many of these shows will sell out. Some of the venues are 10000+ seats.
Are these tickets going to be cheaper than regular tickets or what? 40$ a ticket is kinda steep..

I don't know the tickets are between like 27-33 dollars. So if you get them via the regular Ticketmaster site, probably so.

First of all, fuck you. You're an ignorant piece of shit. And I say that for many reasons.
First of all, by "set up a computer system," i'm assume you mean I have some special software that allows me to get better seats than anybody else. WRONG. I buy tickets the same way as everybody else - the difference is, I know what the hell I'm doing, and when everything goes on sale, both of which are from public information and experierience. I've been doing this about 3 years, and it's a full time job for me. I spent 40 hours (at least, usually more) researching tickets and ticket sales, and everything else. I pay taxes, I have a business license, I'm in college, and chances are, I make a shitload more than you (or your parents) do.
I do the same thing every single fan does - buy tickets from Ticketmaster.com or Tickets.com. I just know about presales, when stuff goes on sale, how Ticketmaster works, when Tickets get re-released, etc, etc, etc. All of this comes from hard work, research, and experience.
But I love it how people complain than the academy is tour in their area is sold out - with the exception for new york city, these shows were on sale for WEEKS before they sold out - plenty of time for anybody who "likes" a band as much as they claim to pick up tickets. People are just lazy, and think they're hte only person in the world who likes a certain band. And that laziness and ignorance forces them to pay a premium to see a band they want to see.
Second, how is ticket scalping not a real job? Ticket brokers provide a service to people who need it - just like anything else. And just like anything else, people pay a premium price for somebody to provide them with a serivce that they cannot do themselves.
So what's the difference between me providing you tickets for an academy is show and marking them up and your automechanic charging you to fix your car and jacking up the price of labor and parts?
Same fucking thing. People just get pissed off because the general public is willing to dish out so much cash for good seats to a sold out show.

if kids wanted to see their favorite band so bad, they would buy tickets when they're on-sale. We have the exact same chance of getting good seats as you do - we just do it more often.

Secondly, I dont brag about my family income alot, but my parents make a hell of a lot more than you, trust me, we'll leave it at that.. and i will also make a hell of a lot more than a ticket "broker" when i am done with schooling
Thirdly, there is software some people use to get tickets, how do you think people get 1000's of rolling stone tickets right when they go on sale
Last, its not a real job, and I'm pretty sure marking tickets up and selling them for your own personal gain is illegal, and pisses people in the preforming bands off alot more than people downloading their music online, which is also illegal
And I dont bag groceries, I actually go to a great college and plan to go to a prestigious law school after I get my bachelor's degree

in most states, its not illegal. and in the states and it is illegal in, you can only sell them for a certain percentage over face value.
the only state that actually says you can't sell above face value is missouri.
and even then, the law only applies to people buying who live IN the state.
again, running your mouth about something you know nothing about.
In other news: Lights and Sounds is a disappointment.

First off, even if it is not considered illegal, none of this changes the fact that you're a scumbag, and if you went up to the artists whom your scalping tickets to their shows and introduced yourself, they'd probably put their fist through your face
Secondly, running your mouth about something you know nothing about also refers to you attacking my famiy's income and my job...which you know nothing about

Ticket scalpers are scum. I actually intended on buying tickets off them when I saw underoath a while back. The tickets were like twelve bucks or something and they wanted eighty. The band got us in for free eventhough I'm pretty sure the venue was over capacity. They said even they had problems getting into the club themselves.
If you look at the people who are selling these tickets, its not like they are doing anything with the money anyways to better their own self. They are just making money to support their drug and alcohol habits. All you can do is feel sorry for them,

I'm so sick of you kids putting down scalpers. If you had the opportunity and the drive to actually do it and make that kind of money you would so don't bitch and whine. Any money I have made has gone to paying off debt that a 20 year old person shouldn't have. I dont do drugs or alcohol, I just want to get back to zero. I don't understand what's so wrong with that, wanting to actually get on with my life. It's not like we live under a rock. There's so many tools to get info of when tickets will go on sale, how big a venue is, etc. There have been shows I haven't been able to go to and I've sold those tickets and made a profit, is that wrong when I clearly planned on going to the show? I still go to shows at fire halls and small clubs which never sell out unless a really BIG band comes, and even then 50% of the tickets sold are at the door, day of show.
Downloading music is stealing at the expense of the artist, but nothing is said about that. I have been on both ends of the scalper pole, and its due to laziness. I didn't buy tickets to nintendo fusion fast enough and I had to get them on ebay for 4 times the price. A few years ago with weezer/saves the day, I wanted front row and I paid $100 a ticket for that. This is why I don't feel bad. If I want to go to a show, I'll go. Just like these kids that don't get the tickets fast enough, they'll tug on mommy or beg to daddy's credit card and they'll get their shot. It's not like hundreds and thousands of superfans are being closed off from seeing their favorite band, most likely they tour again and they'll get another chance to see them. The only circumstance I could see it being questionable is in the case of a reunion/final show.

No, it's not wrong when you planned on going to the show and couldn't make it, and then sold it. But I would hope that you have the decency to sell it for face value or just a little bit above. And just because you're willing to shell out the cash when you don't buy tickets fast enough doesn't mean that other kids who can't afford the show can do the same. Buying tickets with the intent of selling it higher than face value is shitty. I don't care if it's illegal or not. It's just plain shitty.
No one understands economics. No one is getting ripped off in the process of ticket scalping. The consumers have a certain willingness to pay for these tickets, if they didn't, then they wouldn't buy them. It's that simple.
Even if scalpers didn't exist, many concerts would still sell out. People who were not fortunate enough to get tickets would go to the show, and attempt to buy tickets from people in line. Certain people might be willing to sell their tickets, because in theory, everything has an assumed value for each individual. The tickets would be sold in a similar fashion.
Ticket scalping helps display how truly passionate some people are about bands. People willing to pay extreme prices says alot about a bands' following. However, if the consumers are willing, there is nothing to prevent these behaviors, it's human nature, everything has a price.
I'm not sure if it's like this in big cities only , but whats with all the homeless looking black guys asking people for tickets on as their going to shows? Has anyone actually ever given them a ticket? They piss me off.
And FOB at UIC Pavillion is crazy.. that place is huge. I'm surprised they didn't do two or three nights at the Aragon or something like that. UIC isnt a place for a FOB show.

I'm an economics major. I never said that's not the way it works. I just think it's unethical.
Study up, if that's unethical, then any business is unethical.

Whatever. If you don't think it's unethical, then nothing I'm gonna say will change your mind.
You might argue that it's a sign that bands should raise ticket prices if people are willing to pay such high prices, but they keep it low for a reason--so that people who don't have all the money in the world might have a chance of seeing the show. Scalpers are exploiting that.
Yea, scalpers do drive up prices, it's nice to see Fall Out Boy keeping the prices low for this tour. I think the people who are really concerned about the prices would be the ones waiting when they go on sale to make sure they get their tickets. If they are unable to do so, they may find themselves unable to go to shows if they can't pay the inflated prices, that sucks, agreed.
I just don't see anything unethical for accepting more money for a ticket than you payed. Accepting rather than charging, since the consumer is willing.
We have different opinions on ethics, your point is seen.

I just think its unethical for scalpers to go out of their way to do that, to break some poor kid's heart, when that's not what the band wants at all. If someone has a ticket they need to sell because they find out at the last moment they can't go to the show, then yeah, that's fine--whoever wants it the most will get it. But scalpers have no intention of going to the show.
Glad we can agree to disagree though. That's rare around here.

If you guys could sign this petition to get this tour to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, that would be awesome.
Thank you.

I think one of the worst examples of scalping in this "scene", was people actually had the nerve to scalpe tickets to that tsunami relief show last year in NJ with Coheed and MCR and all those bands..
I saw numerous people scalping tickets to a Dashboard Confessional acoustic show in Toronto to Benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Needless to say this made me sick to my stomach and i wanted to fuck up their faces with my foot.
I don't respect scalpers and never will.

I never said anything about economics, all I said was people that scalp tickets are scumbags...and yes there is someone getting ripped off, the actual bands playing...
