I think the Texans make a mistake taking either him or Young with the first pick. I suggest they trade down and get a decent veteran QB and some o-linemen. A running back, no matter what his hype, won't win every game and with no o-line to run with, he's doomed. I don't think he's an every down back either. We shall see though.

They don't need a QB. Carr is fine when he gets protection. They should trade down a couple of picks and take D'Brickashaw Fergusen... but D'Brickashaw won't put fans in the seats.

Yes he will if they add some free agent o-linemen with him. Then Carr will be free to actually have time to pass without getting sacked and will be a gem of a QB. It's all about the W, if the Texans win games the fans will come. The best part about it will be the "We don't need Bush to win games" motto.

Reggie bush doesn't need 30 carries to affect the outcome of a football game. he can do that with one kick/punt return, one screen pass reception, one post patter, or one draw play.
He's barry sanders with a bit more power and far, far better catching ability.
He's the best football player in the draft. Who was the last running back to come out of college that when he touched the ball, you knew he would take it the distance?

Yeah in college. No one knows if he can do anything great like that in the much faster NFL where they play defense. Bush shouldn't be the pick for the Texans, neither should Young.

are we watching the same kid run? he's running with humans not cheetahs for fucks sake.
You cannot honestly say, that as fast as he is, Brian Urlacher could chase him down.

Yeah, I mean the people in the NFL do come from the college game right? He has absurd speed, but its his ability to stop and go that defines him, even people as fast as him will not be able to handle his cuts

People have to stop being so hung up on Bush. People keep saying 'He can make a difference in a game with kick return, one big run, blah blah blah.' He's a game breaker don't get me wrong but if it were the case that those things make a team that much better Dante Hall would be a top player in the league. He's a 15-20 carry back with kick return and screen talent, but he won't do the same thing in college as the pros. He may return 3 touchdowns a year and maybe turn 2 screens into touchdowns. But with only 15-20 carries he'll only get 6 touchdowns out of that and 1,100 yards. Those are solid numbers but not astounding.
He's the best athlete in the draft. He is not the best football player in the draft. But he puts fans in stadiums, and the Texans need that.

It's true though. Put it this way. The teams that he faced in college there are tops maybe 1 or 2 starters in the pros. Every game he is facing a College All Star team. It is different. These are the best players from college. And if you think every game he can do the same thing he did in college against a College All Star team then you are mistaken.

he's not going to average 8 yards/carry in the NFL, i know this. But the mere fact that he's on the field drawing attention to himself opens up other players. He can make people around him better because he commands the focus when he steps on the field -- whether in the NFL or college. He can out run, out maneuver any player in the nfl. is he getting more hype than a college kid should get? yes. Will he live up to it? No, because no one could live up to this hype. but will he be a pro bowler who changes the outcomes of games from half the amount of touches as other premier running backs? yes.
I just don't see how having him on the field to at least advert the attention away from other play making teammates, as well as, the explosive ability to score from anywhere on the field at any time, doesn't make him more valuable than a guy who'll pound up the middle 30 times a game into 400 lbs. d-tackles.
Will he become the leagues all time leading rusher? i don't know.
Is the the next barry sanders? i don't know.
Is the the most explosive player to come into the nfl draft in a long, long time? yes. You don't pass up on a kid who has that much ability.
