...meanwhile, many have been wondering about the status of weezer's next album - their 7th! While theres not much that can yet be officially revealed, here's the basics as they now stand...
* The band worked with Jacknife Lee in Malibu, Santa Monica, and West L.A. between 11/08 and 1/09, recording a nice pile of songs. The songs were mixed in March '09 in NYC with Rich Costey. Now the band has more new songs they are excited about, so they will be doing some more recording soon. What exactly ends up on the new album, and what is saved for the future, remains to be seen.
* As usual, weezer has kept things interesting with new experiments and ideas. After this many albums, its a given that they will try some new theories out. However, one thing thats stayed the same this time is Rivers singing lead.
* There is no release date set. Rumors and speculation about a July release are unfounded. The album may come out in summer, or fall, or ???. We shall see.
* No title has been selected, rumors and speculation to the contrary.
* No 1st single has been selected. The 1st single will probably come out in the summer. Stay tuned.
* Yes, the album rocks.
* More info to come, whenever it can be revealed. Thanks.
That's from a bulletin they posted on Myspace earlier.

Pretty much everything good that they've done besides Blue and Pinkerton is underrated. Maladroit is a really solid album and the others have their moments.

most solid albums ever is

Catch For Us The Foxes - mewithoutYou
Colors - Between The Buried And Me
Excerpts From The Diary Of Todd Zilla - Grandaddy
Before The Dawn Heals Us - M83

just some that popped in my head :)

i don't mind FOB, i just have a feeling they're going to play mostly new stuff and i'm not a big fan of much post Cork Tree. but yeah, with them and AAR i have a feeling the fans are going to be horrible. then throw Asher Roth into the mix and it almost seems like they tried to fill the stage with as many douchebags as they could. i keep telling myself it will still be worth it though.

Maybe it hasn't been posted yet.

Rivers Cuomo reveals that Rainn Wilson named the album.

Weezer raised a few eyebrows earlier this week when they announced that their forthcoming album would be called Raditude, which barely even qualifies as a pun. But Spin has the scoop on the title directly from helpful frontman Rivers Cuomo.

Apparently, the actor and Cuomo buddy/fellow Joan Osbourne fan Rainn Wilson named the album. Quoth Rivers: "[Wilson] has a super-rock persona. When it came time to find a title for the Weezer album, I asked him what he thought the ultimate album title would be, and he said 'Raditude.'"

That makes sense. Raditude is what happens when you let Dwight from "The Office" name your album.

Cuomo also told Spin a few details about the album, which drops October 27. Abysmal early leaks "I'm Your Daddy" and "The Girl Got Hot" will both make the album, and Cuomo isn't remotely embarrassed about either. Here's how he described the record: "The sound of Raditude is fun, high energy pop rock. 'I'm Your Daddy' has an up vibe with the same heavy Weezer guitar riff but with a little electro influence. And 'The Girl Got Hot' -- that's kind of a witty party jam."

Electro influence. Witty party jam. Right.

Weezer has been absolutely terrible for over ten years now. It's a tribute to the pure awesomeness of Blue and Pinkerton that people still give a damn about them.
I like a few songs on Green and Maladroit, although the majority aren't very good. Make Believe and Red are atrocious, 'Greatest Man That Ever Lived' is the only decent song on either of those albums

SlappedActor
10/23/09, 09:42 AM
that's retarded.

the last four albums all have good parts and bad parts. except for maladroit, which is their best album.

What the fuck? No. Just no.

True. I didn't mean to say that they haven't written any good songs since Pinkerton, they still can write a decent tune every once in a while. But even the decent ones are still running off the cred from Blue and Pinkerton, they're not really good enough to stand on their own.

6 ... might go up a bit, but honestly, it's nothing more than an album you put on for "fun's sake." Coming from someone who actually likes a majority of their catalog, b-sides and all, it's a downgrade in style and effort... but still sounds nice. Kinda like seeing that friend you had some awesome memories with years ago, but as time goes by and the less often you see one another, you realize he's still nice, just not as cool anymore.

That earlier comment wasn't a direct jab at you. (Although I can see why you would think that, my mistake) And yes, obviously the band hasn't put out anything that is seriously "good" in a long time. It's not good. It's awesomely bad. That's exactly what they're going for. This is just the first time they pulled it off successfully save a few songs on Red. They obviously haven't been taking themselves seriously for a while now...the cover art on Red and Raditude are proof enough of that. The hooks on this album, imo, are great as far as power pop goes. This is the first album they've put out in years that feels fresh in that respect.

It has hits, a miss here or there, but if i had to make a "Best of Weezer" mixtape, none of these songs would show up on it. Its just kind of forgettable.

but like i said, another decent addition to the library. you cant expect a band that tries so many different things to always fit within what youre looking for.

fave tracks are probably "If You're Wondering," "Love Is the Answer," and "Get Me Some."

Thats sort of what I'm saying. I think this is a step up in quality from Red, so I'm really not all that disappointed songs. I love the single, and I just think it's a better album overall. I think I liked one song on Red, and some of it (like Heart Songs, which is still BY FAR the worst song they've ever written), was downright painful to listen to.

When I get on a Weezer kick, I usually play both Blue and Raditude.

That's why I added the in my opinion part. I listened to it 3 times within a day of getting it, and nothing but the single really stuck. this is definitely not true. although burndt jam is pure amazing and theres a lot of other great songs, it doenst touch pinkerton.

good story, i managed to snag a sealed copy of it on vinyl about 2 weeks ago at this local record shop. this guy had it stowed away in the back so nobody could find it
maladroit or pinkerton? either is a great find.

idk, i just love the songs on maladroit. all of them are amazing, the best being slave

maladroit, its been out of print sense the initial pressing when it came out. you can still get pinkerton as an import

Maladroit is better than MB, but I think both are fantastic albums.
