Most AP classes don't have a lot of busy-work homework such as worksheets or problems from the book; they're mostly just papers and lab reports. I suggest just reading the book when you're supposed to do so, don't rely on like other kids' outlines and shit like that. It's not that bad really, and the weighted grades and college credits will help out.

I took AP Chem, AP Latin Literature, AP English (Literature), and AP US History this year. Next year I'll be taking AP Bio, AP Physics, AP Latin Vergil, AP English, and AP Modern Euro.
This past year hasn't been that bad - like someone already said: do your work. Read the textbook, write your papers on time (proofread!), and just work hard. You should do fine - there's a reason you got into these classes in the first place. No one in my classes bombed, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

Not that bad. I only take 2-3 per year. It's manageable. French II, on the other hand, is a bitch.

Haha, yeah. I'm pretty mature, especially online (compared to my peers, anyway). I've been posting around here since I was about 12, and everyone's always thought I was college-age even back then...

FYI- My college so far has been easier then the BS I took during Calc, American History, and English. Granted english I passed with a 4 and got credit for 2 classes but whatev. But yea for AP tests forget what busy work your given and concentrate on passing the test. No teacher in their right mind could fail you if you pass that test, because thats the point of the class itself!

Took Psych, Gov, Phys, Chem, Cal AB, Eng IV, and Stat and didn't have that much trouble with it. Managed A's averages in all but 1 class (and that was an 88). Just refrain from procrastination. The work load for the classes is easily manageable.

I've taken AP English Lit., English Lang. World History, US Gov., Psych, Chem, and BC Calc., (not all in the same year) and really only learned two things: don't procrastinate, and don't get behind. You have to do your homework and study, even if it's only 20 minutes a night. If you don't understand something, go to your teacher and ask for help. Getting behind is awful, especially when you're taking multiple AP or college-level classes.
Other than that, I didn't really think they were hard. I don't know much about Bio or Physics, but I know Chem isn't all that hard. I didn't think there was anything complex or difficult about it, it was just a lot of information. Study and do practice problems and you'll be just fine.

it's the only ap class i ever took that i got a b average in. It's not so difficult that you'll be worried about failing but it definitely takes more attention than other courses. Also the ap exam was murder. By far the hardest exam I've taken. Was not expecting it to be so difficult. But if you follow the advice of the people in this thread you should do fine.

In HS I took AP Euro, AP Enviro, AP US, AP Gov, AP Lit, and AP Language, and I'm soooo glad I did now that I'm in college. I got out of taking a required science class thanks to Enviro, and I got credit for all my other ones (except Language, which I don't think most schools count unless you also take Lit), and I have enough credits to register a day or two ahead of other freshman (which makes a huge difference in picking timeslots and things like that). It's crazy how many kids at my college (NYU) who only took one or two APs. You're stressing now, but a year or two from now you'll be thanking yourself for spending all that time in APs (especially since college will seem like a joke comparatively).
As others said, just keep up with the work in class and when the AP tests roll around just cram a day or two before. You'll be fine.
Oh, I've also noticed that AP teachers seem to be a lot more helpful than "regular" ones if they see you falling behind or your grade slipping. If you feel yourself working too hard, they'll probably be more understanding about it.

well, i was in AP World History so i know how horrific "AP" classes are. just keep keep keep drinking coffee, your concentration will be pin point.

I took AP European History last year, and that class sucked my butt off. The teacher was an idiot who assigned a lot of work, and I'm pretty sure I wasted my $90 on the test.
Next year I have AP Lit and AP USHistory. Supposedly Euro is the hardest class on campus, so it should be a piece of cake.
do you guys schools have pre requisites for taking AP classes? My school is extremely strict about having an A- averge in the CP class before moviing up to an AP elective or class. I am appealing the shit out of trying to get into AP gov for next year.

At my school we need an A or B in an Honors level class (an A in a Regular level class). We also need acceptable scores on the PSAT and recommendations from our current teacher in the subject that corresponds to the AP we want to take. The only reason I got to take my AP class next year is because my current US teacher is the teacher for the class so she let me in.
Good luck trying to get in! AP Gov was one of my options for classes next year.

AP Lang: 4
I'm sure that everyone else has 5's across the board but I am more than happy with these scores.

Chem all depends on your teacher. If you have a competent one, you'll be fine. I had a fantastic teacher for AP Chem, and like you said, just do practice problems and read the textbook and you will be fine.
Be happy knowing that you don't need to do that well on the exam to get a 5, because there's plenty of people who just aren't prepared for it.

As a freshman, I took AP Human Geography and got a 4. This year (sophomore), I took AP Biology, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP World History. I got 5s on all of them, surprisingly.
Next year, I think I'm taking AP English Language, AP French Language, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics B, and AP Psychology. "Fun".
taking my first AP officialy this coming year, my junior year. AP Government. The summer assignment is to read a book by Caroline Kennedy and when I get back i'm gonna be tested on a list of about 100 terms. I hope its not that hard.

have you ever taken any form of physics? IPC or a preparatory course? I took IPC in 7th and AP Phys senior year and kept an A+ the entire year. I thought chemistry was much more difficult. Physics is merely math.

Still haven't received my scores... I'm thinking 4/5 in US Hist. and 3/4 in Chem, though.
But I will say that the difficulty of AP classes depends almost entirely on the competence of the teacher, at least from my experience. If you have good teachers, you should do fine.

AP US Government/Politics is so easy. I got a B in the semester class final (Beat the two top history-nerds too!)l and a 4 on the exam.

I've never taken physics before. However, I'm more than competent at math and learned a bunch of physics stuff (rotational motion, angular velocity, vectors, etc.) in my precalc class.
Taking AP English at my HS. Very easy class if you ask me.
Then there's AP Physics. Hands down, the most difficult class I've taken.

I just got my schedule changed and signed up for AP government today. I wasn't in AP history last year due to a few annoying conflicts, and I didn't sign up for it at the end of the school year like everyone else. It just dawned on me earlier today that the teacher might've assigned something over the summer, but I just joined the class less than a week before school starts so I wouldn't know. Hope I'm not screwed.

Can't you e-mail or call someone at the school (the teacher?) to find out? You need to take initiative with classes like these; ignorance won't be tolerated and it will just get you put in a bad position with the teacher to start things off. It's very difficult to overcome that poor first impression.
Call the administration and ask to be put in touch with the teacher about assignments. I know for AP Gov at my school, there is quite a bit of reading and a couple assignments to do over the summer.

Yeah, I know the AP English class had homework over the summer, and it's not unusual for AP classes to have homework over the summer in general. I didn't even think to ask my counselor about it when I switched in to it yesterday, and school starts on the first of September. Last night I looked on the school site to see if the teacher had a website or something with assignments because I know some teachers do, but of course he didn't. This morning I also called a friend who I thought was in the AP government class to ask her about it, but apparently she's not in it so she has no clue. I've had the teacher before in another subject so I know him well enough, so I was thinking about going by the school tomorrow because most of the teachers are there working before the school year officially starts, hoping that he'll be there for me to ask. If he's not, I'm pretty sure my school website has a directory with all of the teacher's email addresses, so hopefully I can contact him that way.
I hope it works out.

Try to not take so many AP's i took 2 my senior year and if i actually did the work i'm sure it would of been hard. Or you can try hitting on the teacher, worked well for me.
im in ap calc this year. my first and only ap in my high school years haha. i dont even want to take it
