The following message is from Dane Cook (www.danecook.com)'s Myspace.com (www.myspace.com/danecook) page.
For several months now I have been talking to you about a HUGE secret that I've had... and here it is!!! On April 15, 2006 I will be returning to my hometown of Boston, Mass. for one of the most important milestones of my career, I will be performing at the 17,000 seat TD Banknorth Garden as part of my very own HBO Special (that will air at a later date). Book your plane tickets, reserve your hotels, steal an f'in car, because this is going to be a once in a lifetime event that I want all of you to be part of.

You watched me from your living room and made my SNL appearance the highest rated episode of the past two years, now it's time to be in the same room with me as I perform at one of the most storied venues in America. The tickets to this event are available RIGHT NOW for my fans only by clicking HERE (http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/24401) and by entering the password SUFI. As you can imagine, tickets will sell very fast, that's why I've made them available exclusively to you for the first several days.

April 15th. Boston. The 'Garden'.
I'll see you at the show.

Yea, a national idiot who has sold hundreds of thousands of CD's and sells out arenas pretty routinely. I've had the pleasure of seeing Dane a few times, and while I think he's lost a certain edge about him since his early days on Comedy Central, there's no denying he has a lighthearted, original comic routine.

How the hell is seeing him in a 17.000 capacity arena worth 50 bucks?
Wasn't he touring small comedy clubs half a year ago?
Seriously, seeing a person, not a band, with 17.000 people is just annoying, i'm all for arena shows, but this is just stupid.

It's all a matter of opinion. There is no such thing as an absolute opinion.

ok, you're right, that is true. I will rephrase myself by saying, at least one person agrees with me that he is not funny.
I really admire the fact that you're comment was not a smart-ass one, though I guess mine could be seen as one... oh well

First of all, Dane Cook is one of the funniest people alive. Secondly, if that sells out, the show itself will gross close to $1,000,000 right (or am I and idiot and just did the math completely wrong)??

i thought he was funny a few years ago, but his jokes kinda just got bland. it was like the whole "i'm rick james biatch" thing where everyone and their grandma quoted lines form him.

I've never liked Dane Cook, but I honestly never gave him much of chance. I just thought he was annoying. So today I borrowed my brothers "Need" CD from "Retalliation." I listened with an open mind, and I truthfully did not enjoy it at all. I wish I could, but I just don't find him humorous. He tries to hard, and ruins good jokes with his screaming and yelling. My favorite comediens I like are Brian Regan, Mitch Hedberg, Nick Swardson, and of course Robin Williams.

nothing. it's brand new. if it was the old boston garden...then he could call it storied.

it's 11 years old which is hardly brand new. I do agree that is not very storied. it was the site of the greatest comeback in nba playoff history however.

HAHA!

Dane Cook is a comedian that has gained popularity over the last 2 years or so and is now HUGE...although I want to say his first full length comedy album came out in 2001 or 2002

Hope that helps you

01/15/06, 02:46 AM
okay so i was in the middle...the original release date was 2000 for that but his album with the DVD came out in 2003

i've seen the dane train a few times, and of course listened to his cds and watched his specials. has anyone else realized that he doesn't have any jokes? it is rare that you can retell a dane cook story and get a laugh out of someone who does not know or like him. it seems only dane cook can make dane cook 'jokes' funny (and some of his bits are quite funny--first cd of retailation proves that while the second one is a disaster). this all makes for a great entertainer, but a piss-poor comedian.

i'm not going to read the other replies, but Dane had a national college tour planned, including coming to grand valley state university where i go. he called our university promotions department to say that he's moving on to bigger and better things. so that, coupled with the fact that tickets for this aren't affordable to john q college student is only increasing his twattiness.

that...doesnt make sense

anyway, i like dane cook, but i think this success has gotten to his head a little bit, and the newest album really isn't nearly as solid as harmful if swallowed

Dude, Swardson is hillarious in Grandma's Boy. His DDR Scene is worth the price of admission alone. I got to talked to him when he was promoting Grandma's Boy in San Francisco. Cool guy, he has a Comedy Central Special coming out soon and he said that he was making a comedy album (probably the special without commercials). During the Q&A he mentioned working on a Reno 911 Movie.

Good for Dane Cook. He has a pilot for his show, he hosted SNL, he sold millions of copies of his Double Album/DVD, and now he's going to do a big ass HBO special. He's like the white Dave Chappelle, popularity wise. I just wish he would work on The Tourgasm DVD so he can release it already.

I'm pretty sure the goal of a comedian is to get people to laugh at them...
