well, i met derek once and didn't want to ask him this in person, but...

i was wondering if he ever gets artist's block, where he can't think of anything new and just feels like he's going in circles. i'm the same way with art, and i wonder how he overcomes it, if it all. i also wondered if he experiments with anything else besides pen and ink or screenprinting.

I am currently working on this major school assignment concerning the relationship between visual arts and music, so could you ask his vision upon this subject?

Ask him what it's like to come out of such a small market like Cleveland as opposed to something bigger like LA or NY, or even more locally, Chicago. I've always admired him for doing all of his work at ground level marketing and making something huge out of something that basically started as a few bored doodles on a piece of paper.
