I think that Hey Monday could easily be filed under Cassadee Pope with a backup band. The band plays the same chord progression in almost every song I've heard, but Cass makes it catchy and fun. No point in comparing them to Paramore because they're clearly not trying to be anything like them and their new direction.

Sorry but everyone that says Hey Monday are ripping off Paramores success have obivously never heard either of them.
Okay they make the same type of music and they both have a female lead singer. That is where the comparisions end.
I could just as easily say that All Time Low are ripping off Fall Out Boy because they both have male vocalists and both make pop-punk, but everyone knows that isn't true.

Alright, I've been watching this thread for a while and some things need to be cleared up.

THE ONLY SIMILARITY BETWEEN HEY MONDAY AND PARAMORE IS THAT THEY BOTH HAVE FEMALE LEAD VOCALISTS.

I apologize for the caps lock, but please explain to me how Cassadee Pope and Hayley Williams sound similar. Both have insane voices, but Cassadee sings like a little girl; her voice is very sweet. Hayley's voice is gritty and a lot more suited for the kind of music that she makes. Their voices in sound are not even close.

Musically, Hey Monday and Paramore are in two completely different categories. Hey Monday focuses more on being a pop band, while Paramore is rock. HM takes a cliched, been done before approach to topics and their music. Paramore is much more heavier than HM, lyrically and musically. There is no comparison between Hey Monday and Paramore's muscial style because they're so different.

And I would like to say also that I think Cassadee and Hayley are matched vocally. Cassadee has great control of her voice (see: "Candles"), and Hayley can belt it out, too (see: "All I Wanted")

Either way, there's virtually no comparison between Hey Monday and Paramore.

Look, if you really want to get in depth, Hey Monday is broken up power chords in the verses, the same chords strummed in the chorus and a slight variation in the bridges every time. They dont write anything interesting, that girls voice is boring, she looks boring, the rest of the band is ugly, the sound is bland.

The band sounds like they belong on the disney channel, in some original series called iCassidy or something.
Its for kids. Personally i don't care for it.

I'm not overly interested in what the consensus. The vast majority of my CD collection before 1990 is comprised of 8 song albums and they're full lengths, whether itunes agrees or not.

Not at all. That song is killer and was butchered on the last record and the odds that they will explode are huge. They god big buzz on their last record and Decaydance pushes all their bands really hard. Whether or not they'll release a record that deserves it remains to be seen. I have hope.

We were definitely bummed when we first found out, but on the brightside, we'll have a lot more music for you than originally planned and will be on the road for a longer stretch to see all of you! Yeah this whole release has been a mess. Stuff getting pushed back is always worrysome. Here's hoping they just think they have a huge hit on their hands and want time for the band to promote it, which they can't do on Warped. I can't think of any other reason that doesn't spell trouble.

Gentile: Well we just figured that with the way that everything is right now in the industry, you have to stay on top, you gotta keep putting things out. We just felt like if we were to put out a full-length at the end of the summer it just, it wouldn't be as beneficial to our fans and the band as if we were to just kind of split it up. We'll put the EP out and we'll just keep writing and keep putting things out every couple of months...If you want to stay relevant you have to do something that not everybody is doing. Everybody'll put out a full-length and then kids'll be over it two months from now. Like why do that? ...We might put out a full-length in March, but as of right now, we just felt the best decision to do was to put out an EP.

CFF: So for the next couple months you'll be figuring everything out?
Gentile: Yeah, we're just going with it. The music industry is such a fickle thing, it's always up and down and up and down and you just gotta do what's going to keep you relevant. I feel like putting out an EP with just six songs or seven songs, that everybody's going to like and everybody can relate to is just the best move. With the way the economy is and the way that the industry is, it's way easier to push an EP for $5 or whatever than to try and sell a full-length cause kids just don't buy music anymore, they'll just download it. So you gotta do something and we'll see, maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, but you gotta try, you know.
