Days Away (www.daysawaymusic.com) will be playing a week of shows later this month with Steel Train (www.steeltrainmusic.com). The band's latest full-length album, Mapping An Invisible World, was one of the most underrated of 2005. Check it out if you haven't done so already.

01.26.06 Hoboken, NJ Maxwell's

I saw Days Away a few times... talented musicians, but the CD doesn't do it for me. I had never heard of them when I heard God And Mars on a sampler EP for their LP, and I was so psyched.. little did I know, though, it was an old song and that their album didn't sound like that at all.

Definitely, to me, a band with "one good song". Unless you guys can recommend some cool aspects of their music and some really good songs on their album.. I'd give it a few more goes, see why people like it.

T Kline's Decline
You Were Right
It's Not Over

I'd basically list you each track. i thought it was the best release of 2005. Can't wait for TT's.

Give it 2 months to grow on you, bc that's what it took for me, and hasn't stopped since.

Yeah, I as well bought the album last week just because of God and Mars and now I feel kinda bored with the rest of the album. I'll keep listening though, hopefully it grows on me.

That is exaclty what i thought of the album before as well. Give it a few months and it will grow on you, it turned into one my favorite albums last year after i only liked god and mars for the longest time.

'It's not over' and 'keep your voices down' are two of the greatest songs I've ever heard

Gods and Mars obviously has the most appeal of any song on a surface level ...but give this a serious, honest listen and I really think you'll at least enjoy it. They are such talented songwriters and musicians. There are so few bands right now I can actually say set out to and create their own original sound, and Days Away most certainly does that.

I definitely will do that. I just sat down last night and really listened to the Circa album and now I can honestly say that I appreciate that album on a much deeper level. On my way to class I'll do the same for the Days Away album. It's always fun picking apart each song and realizing there is some really cool stuff on there that you normally wouldn't notice, I can bet there will be a lot for DA.

I think MaIW was good background music, but not as engaging overall as I like...

Why waste 2 months listening to something you don't like or find bland? If you listen enough, you will eventually like anything. I understand maybe a few spins to appreciate the disc and such... but 2 months? That's a little excessive don't ya think?

I've seen them 3 times and I'm still not the hugest fan. But I've partied with them and they're awesome guys. I think they were blazed the first time I saw them and kinda forgot to stop playing and the crowd started getting restless so that warped my view. They were better the third time than the first. But meh.

#4 on my list (see sig) for 05. I love it from beginning to end, and as for the guy who only likes God and Mars, the rest will grow on you. "Ideas", "The Fight", and "T. Kline's Decline" especially.

i've seen this band grow since middle school (1998) and i must say that what they've done is pretty incredible. i think they are very close to breaking out and becoming something pretty big however i feel that they are only lacking 2 things: good management and a good label that can give them the right publicity that they deserve. i do like fueled by ramen but i really don't like what they've done with days away.
