Peter King writes this article every week for si.com (i'm sure most of you read it) but this is what he had to say about the referees (there are a couple other spots where he mentions them as well):

6. I think I talked to one league official, two head coaches, a quarterback, and a GM as the day progressed on Sunday, and there was one common theme: The officials are making too many mistakes for this time of year. The one that NO ONE could believe was the Asante Samuel interference on Ashley Lelie. As the GM said: "Don't tell me that didn't have a big part in the outcome of the game because the game ended up not being close. It was huge.'' I say: Allow replay for pass interference. I know it opens up a can of worms, but it's just too big a problem six or eight times a year, and it's a problem that can be corrected.

Hmm. If they have challenges for that though. Everything will be challangable. I'm not sure what side I take however. Both sides have advantages.

On Around The Horn yesterday, tom colishaw mentioned opening up challenges to just about everything, including pass interference calls. He reasoned that everything is a judgement call (evident by that INT ordeal in the Pitt-Indy game) and that pretending some calls are reviewable and others arent is stupid. I think it's a great idea as long as there are limits in place on the amount of reviews a team may ask for so that the game isnt slowed down much more then it already is.

keep the same system, just allow more things to be challengable. that way you only have 2 challenges.

yeah, that wouldn't change the game time wise, but it could have a huge impact.
