Their best album in my opinion. "Carl Perkins' Cadillac" might be my favorite DBT song.

...Alright, Vinh; Brian - let's see if we can keep this from sinking into the abyss TOO soon. ;-)

Oh sorry. By "Drive By Truckers" I meant "The Dangerous Summer".

In that case, love it.

Haha. Maybe I just made this thread too early in the day. Whatever.

Anyway, thoughts on the album?

Right up there with Decoration Day as tops by the Truckers.

Yeah. I think this album and Decoration Day are my favorites. Southern Rock Opera is up there too.

Did you ever get around to hearing Jason Isbell's latest record? Nothing amazing, but it's good summer listening.

I still need to do that. Thanks for reminding me, ha.

Sure thing. Have you heard any alt-countryish releases I might enjoy this year? 2009 has been far weaker than I'd like.

Haha. I can't remember if you really do like them or not.

I think 2009 has been great so far, but as far as alt.country goes, the only thing I can think of offhand is the new Justin Townes Earle, which I think you've heard already, if I'm not mistaken. Ben Nichols' Last Pale Light in the West EP is really good too.

The Dangerous Summer, or Drive By Truckers? Haha. TDS is alright. I dig a few songs from them. Drive By are great.

Dang, already familiar with both. I know our tastes don't often align when it comes to new music but is there anything I might like from 09?

Hmm. I know you've already checked out the new William Elliott Whitmore, which I was about to suggest as well. So I don't know. Like you said, alot of the time our tastes don't align but you might enjoy the new Chris Wollard & the Ship Thieves album. Can't say for sure though ha.

Straight up classic. Even my friends who don't normally like this style of music will say that this album is awesome.
