best - movielife
worst - the rest of them
ok, so the flaming of drivethru continues...just because a band is on drivethru doesnt mean they suck. WAIT, for most of them(Starting Line, Senses Fail, Steel Train) it does, but The Movielife is definitely a band a level above the rest of this label.
EDIT: oh yea, i forgot about Finch and Senses Fail, I think Senses Fail has a lot of room to grow, cuz they have shitloads of potential.

im glad somebody mentioned Rx Bandits cause they are the best thing drive-thru has. movielife are pretty good, too. and aside from the name, the early november are better at doing the emo thing than a lot of bands.
i think starting line or allister are the worst.
i really dislike new found glory
RUFiOOOOOOO
03/15/03, 05:53 PM
i like mostly all of the DTR bands most notably: FINCH!, Movielife, Rx Bandits, Senses Fail, Home Grown, Early November, TSL, and NFG..
i'm not into Steel Train, so i guess that makes them the worst to me...
Best - Finch, Movielife, Rx Bandits
Worst - the others

grrrr i know everyone has their own opinion but this is a load of crap. theres no way you can hate every band on drive thru because they have different styles. admittly allister remind me of homegrown and vice versa. but you cant say steel train suck, or that senses fail suck or that the early november suck because all they have released is 1 ep with a couple of songs, so they are still trying to find their own sound. You dont know what their full potenial is. for all you know they could go on to become the best band ever known. the others have alot to judge on mostly. but i honestly cant see hoe any one can say that they dont like drive thru records. i love them and all the bands on it. espically finch and the starting line and homegrown........... i could go on but ill shut up now. *my rant is over*

Finch, Senses Fail, The Movielife, Rx Bandits, The Early November, Allister, The Starting Line...I like those.
I can't stand Steel Train, Something Corporate, or NFG. I never really heard Midtown or Fenix TX, so I'm not counting them. I never got into Homegrown, but I guess their music is okay. Just not something I'd go download or buy.
[Yes, I know some of these bands are on different labels now or broke up, but I'm still counting them as DT.]
And if you don't like DTR, then why reply to the post? There's plenty of people that like this label.

I, unlike the majority of you, actually like a lot of the bands that are signed with drive-thru records. They play and sound a hell of a lot better than I and a lot of other people ever could. There are always acceptions, though... (I feel like I'm being a follower or something here after reading all of the responses) but Steel Train is definitely not a band that I enjoy listening to...

Best - Finch
Worse - Homegrown. And Midtown sucks, too.
Btw Steel Train is not that bad. Get off the haterade haha.

Really, the only reason I say they suck is because everytime I go to the Drive-Thru site, "Blown Away" or something is playing and the song is so slow and boring.

it's a pretty good song if your into slow music...i think it's pretty slick.
I Like Glassjaw
03/16/03, 08:49 AM
Best - The Movielife, Senses Fail
Worst - New Found Glory is the worst DT band because without them, there would be no ripoffs.

Best: Rxbandits, Movielife, Last summer (broke up) , cousin oliver (broke up), and allister.
Worst: Starting Line (new album was just crap), Home Grown, steel train, TEN.
(ive only heard one or two songs by sense fail, so im not going to coment on them)
I also like Finch but there NOT on dtr anymore. (nor is something corp (terrible live show, but ok cds), or NFG or was Fenix Tx when they broke up. so people should not list them)

yeah, according to that rock sound article, the guys in finch got a letter one day saying they were on mca now. they're on mca/drive-thru or something. i keep seeing mca/drive-thru for them so..i don't get it. i know mca is drive-thru's major label partner whatever

They just signed a new contract with MCA, unlike midtown, which puts them only on MCA for there next two albums, but MCA can drop them, inwhich case they'd go back to drivethru.

I don't like that at all.

didn't MCA already drop Midtown?? i thought that happened in Nov-Dec. i might be wrong though.

03/16/03, 11:05 AM
ya Midtown is label-less right now. they went to MCA because it was their only option to get away from drive-thru. then, pure speculation on my part, they asked to be dropped by MCA so they could actually choose a new label for themselves without having to deal with their old contract. this would explain why they said in interviews that they were thrilled after MCA let them go. i dont think they particularly wanted to be on MCA, they just wanted out of their drive-thru contract.

I hadn't heard that they asked to be dropped, but i do know they were thrilled that MCA let "them Go" because they still owed them 2 more albums (through a contract with DTR), and be letting them go MIdtown wasn't obligated to forefull the two more album deal with DTR.

Agreed, but Rx Bandits are better than Allister. None of my friends are punks. None of my friends are punks. They all work corporate jobs while I sit here like a slob cause none of my friends are punks.
I'll just do this:
The Best:
Rx Bandits
The Starting Line
Allister
The Movielife
The Good:
Something Corporate
The Early November
Sense Fail
Finch
The Ok:
Home Grown
The Bad:
New Found Glory (old stuff was good tho
The Ugly:
Steel Train
well said Jordan
Man, does steel train suck!!!!
Yeah, i think basically all the bands on DTR are good. Seriously though, can't judge a band by a label. If you were in a band and offered a chance to be signed by such a well known label that you know would help out your band, wouldnt you?
