Figured I'd make these guys a thread seeing as how I've been loving their new album lately. RIYL No Use for a Name, The Swellers, old Strung Out, the Loved Ones, Useless ID etc.

You had me at "old Strung Out."
I've give them some quality time.

Haha nice. They're not a dead ringer for old Strung Out but I think it's a fair comparison. Some of the songs on the new album have pretty fiery fretwork that's reminiscent of Strung Out and some of the melodies are similar too. Hope ya dig them!

Sweet sweet. I think you'll probably enjoy it.

Reviewing it for Scenepointblank. I'll be buying a physical copy after I get my paycheck in a week or so. I can't wait to listen to this.

About halfway through the record now and I really like it. Almost the same feeling I had when I listened to Keep Your Heart for the first time.

Nice! I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it. I know what you mean about the Keep Your Heart comparison too.

I get kind of a Broadway Calls vibe from these guys, too. "Parkbench Tales" is my favorite song on the record right now.

Hmm. I sort of hear a Broadway Calls vibe too now that you mention it. "Parkbench Tales" is a good one. My personal favorite is "Days Go By".

I like that one a lot, too. Probably runner up for my favorite on the record. The song is so catchy, haha.

Indeed it is. I think it's a great album opener too. So driving and catchy. It's alot like "Suture Self" on Keep Your Heart, to use that comparison again. Not that it sounds like it, but it has a similar feel.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I heard that song. They also remind me of 88 Fingers Louie with the melodies. The two bands don't really sound alike but they use some similar melodies if you know what I mean.

Hmm, I'm not sure because I've never really listened to 88 Fingers Louie much but I guess that's my cue to finally check them out hah.

They're defunct now. I only really listen to their split with Kid Dynamite and Back On The Streets (haven't bothered with anything else, yet). Check out the song "Reparation." That's one of the songs by them that sort of sound similar to Empty Promise.
another note: I like some of the random shredding on this album, too. haha.
