If for some unbelievable reason you haven't heard them already, you can stream the following the following two albums over at NME for the rest of this week:

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (http://www.nme.com/artists/clap-your-hands-say-yeah/media/117) (the first song is an intro song, fyi)
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene (http://www.nme.com/artists/broken-social-scene/media/120)

Clap Your Hands is unbearable, and the lyrics shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentance as mewithoutYou. The vocals are like nails on a chalkboard.

You act like these two bands are the complete gods of music, and you are living under a rock if you havent wasted time listening to them. Any band with a name like Clap Your Hands We Are Gay...should not be alive

The broken social scene record is really good. It hasn't had much staying power with me though. The bonus ep was really good as well. I liked the faster version of major label debut off of the ep more than the slower album version. Like someone said before me, You Forgot It In People was so much better.
on the other hand, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are not good.

Broken Social Scene's self-titled album is really good. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are okay.

Any band with a name like Clap Your Hands We Are Gay...

That was funny though.

the faster version of "major label debut" on the ep > the version on the album
honestly, its amazingly better.

Thank God for differences in opinion. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's release is one of the best and most refreshing albums I've heard in years.

agreed my friend...i love this album so much...its refreshing to hear a band that doesnt sound like everyone else....its amazing how people get so brainwashed into liking the same vocal chords over and over for years on end...that when a new different sound hits the airwaves they immediatly jump on it and call it crap cause thier not use to it.
Exactly. A lot of the people I talk to on here listen to the same bands every week and listed the same albums in their Top 10, 20, EP, etc. list. It's fine to like what you like and to like what's "scene" and to like what your friends like, but jump outside of the box once in a while. Listen to something that's not pop punk or "mature" or Thrice, you know?

And to the person who called Clap Your Hands Say Yeah overrated, you know nothing about them. To do what they did and to sell like they're selling is completely underrated. It's funny that half of the people who post on music know nothing about it.

are you kidding me? this album is unbelieveably good, way better than the new BSS, and they're did it all by themselves. they have no record label!
cant' wait to see them @the Metro

You really need to get off your high horse, Jeff. Ever since you fell in love with Clap Your Hands you've turned in to every other elitist prick on this board. You can take your elitism elsewhere. Just because you got into this one indie album doesn't mean you are an expert on the genre, nor does it give you the right to generalize all of our users here - there are plenty of people, including myself, who love quite a bit of indie, but think Clap Your Hands is flat out awful. The fact that Clap Your Hands is selling so many records shows that they're overrated, not underrated. If they were underrated, they'd be at 10,000 albums sold and it'd be a travesty that they weren't selling more. It's funny how you know nothing about music, yet continue to act like you do. How does it feel? Your AIM name is "TakingOutGlory" - a combination of Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, and New Found Glory. Yeah, you sure are the expert about things outside the realm of pop-punk or scene music.

Scott, you really need to realize that you have turned into a complete bitch. For some reason about a month or so ago, you decided to start treating me like shit. We used to talk about music all the time on AIM, and now look - you bring up the screenname angle to try and convince me that I don't know anything about music because of a nickname I came up with two years ago. I've read some pretty stupid things on the boards, but that takes the cake for the most stupid - by far.

You call me an elitist prick because I like a band and defend them when someone calls them overrated? What if someone called Gatsby's American Dream overrated? You wouldn't say anything to them? Take a look at my last.fm and my top 25 albums this year. There's an obvious correlation and I see nothing 'elitist' about what I listen to. I listen to music I like, I don't give a shit what 'genre' it is. Why are you hung up on telling me I'm not an indie music expert because I like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah? Hmm... that makes a lot of fucking sense. And to say that I know nothing about music? I'm not one of these users going around the boards finding My Chemical Romance posts to call them gay or bashing The Starting Line for being ugly. You can say what you will, but never tell me that I don't know anything about music or that it's not about the music for me.

nor does it give you the right to generalize all of our users here
Show me where I generalized all of AP.net's users. Yeah, Scott, let's take a journalistic approach and make shit up. :shake:

Most times I read a post of yours around AP.net, it seems like you're shitting on someone and / or throwing around a holier-than-thou attitude. Calling ME elitist? Why don't you take your superiority complex to Pitchfork? You're on the AP staff, you write reviews, we get it. There's a reason they call them opinions. If I don't agree with yours, it doesn't mean my words mean less or that I'm "like every other elitist prick on the board" (hilarious considering you called me out for generalizing people on the board).

To think I once respected you...

- Jeff
