Best question so far.
Same reason people like anything they like, it's not that difficult to understand.

its not necessarily a terrible genre, just not what you like,
i don't like punk music, but i don't go around saying it's has absolutely no value at all
why are you such a closed minded asshole?

why are you such a closed minded asshole? Not that your argument isn't sort of valid, but find me a single redeeming quality of BrokenCYDE or any band that willingly associates itself with the descriptor" crunk rock."
Just one. One single redeeming factor of any single one of those bands. You can't.

Found it...
My opinion is that it is awful, but I choose to ignore it.They are free to make shitty music if they want. It's a free country. Unfortunatly its a big with some people, and one day they are going to look at themselves and be disgusted with what they have become. That day might have already come for all I know

It's not nearly as entertaining. Say what you will about his questionable artist comparisons, abrasiveness, or affinity for She & Him but he was among the few who kept things rolling around here. Now, the forum has essentially become 2 or 3 chat threads at the top of the page, Brand New fans who just discovered mall indie/Radiohead, and idiots mocking Brokencyde when they listen to The Early November.
As for the "real elitist" deal, that gives me a good chuckle because we all are. Some are merely more vocal about it. Besides, Ben was hardly the only one nor the most confrontational. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy (I contribute to his site after all) but the mystique associated with his internet persona is absurd.

Music has no intrinsic value. The value of one genre as opposed to another is solely based on what the listeners make of it. So to claim that crunk rock has "no value at all" is a flawed argument. If people are listening, which they appear to be doing so, then it has value to someone.
That being said, I listen for the danceability. Always gotta make time for dance parties, holmes.

This would assume that their are no objective standards with which to judge music. That's totally false but it's a discussion that's been beaten to death on this website so... yeah.
I like Family Force 5, if anyone considers that crunk rock.
They put on a good, fun show.
And the fans aren't like the majority of 3oh!3's fans, which again makes the show more enjoyable.

Everything about that song is so powerful, I was almost brought to tears when I heard the singing at the end. Perfect opener.
Instead of a thread about a shitty genre, let's turn this into a Propagandhi thread.

Allmusic is full of shit. They've given all their albums four stars, except for Supporting Caste, which the gave 3.5 stars.

It is a pretty comparatively weak album...at least, I think so. Some standouts (Potemkin City Limits, Last Will & Testament, etc.) but it all just kind of runs together/feels forced. But at the very least, TETA deserves a 4.5. Probably my favorite punk album.

Pssh Potemkin is the one that deserves 3.5 stars. With Less Talk, I'm holding out on making an informed opinion until I receive my hard copy in the mail.

I actually do enjoy some Family Force 5 as well. I wouldn't spin an entire album or anything, but they have some good songs.
