ok so i was at our high school teams basketball game the other night and before the game, during warmups even, one of our players dunked it to get the crowd going . the referee said that dunking was a technical foul and the game started with the other team shooting two technical foul free throws. i was wondering if anyone knew an official rule on this. is there no dunking at all in high school ball? no dunking during warm-ups(which seems retarded)? was our ref just full of shit? i live in wisconsin, divison 4 if that makes a difference or anyone lives in wisconsin. by the way did anyone see that guy shatter the backboard in a high school game on sportscenter?

It is an official rule, you can dunk in games, but you can't dunk in warmups. Why is this a rule, I have no fuckin clue. I played HS ball in Indiana, and yeah, it's a no-no to dunk in warmups.

the rule is no dunking before the game, i think its effective in college last time i checked too. they dont want the chance for the backboard to break. During the game your allowed to dunk in hs though

haha that's gay.
Paul Harris (the top recruit in Syracuse's 2007 class) used to dunk on our white boys all the time. I thought it was kinda cocky....
then last season, Niagara Falls (Harris' HS) played Vashon from St. Louis, the #1 team in the USA at the time, in a tournament. Niagara Falls was up by 4, like 62-58, Harris made a steal, broke down the court, went for the dunk, and got fucking stuffed by the rim. Vashon then scored a couple baskets in a row, and came back to win the game 69-64.
Poetic justice.

I can't dunk, but I can touch the rim! Pretty good for a 5'10 white fuck like me.

a 5'9 kid on our team almost dunked at the game on Saturday night.
it wasn't flush or anything, but the referee even said the kid's hand was well above the rim

I'm 5'7" and can touch rim with a really good jump, but I'd get my ass blocked and sat down if I ever tried to dunk in a game. Of course, the whole dribbling well and shooting well thing plagues me, thus I just watch people play the game mostly

1995 - Texas Tech's Darvin Ham broke a glass backboard in the NCAA tournament. Oklahoma State's Bryant Reeves did the same in warm-ups before the Final Four.

I have season tickets here at UW, and about 60% of the time, opposing teams dunk during warmups, including Oregon last week.

Huh? UW = University of Washington. Haha. Lorenzo Romar is our coach...Dick Bennett is the Washington State University coach. Not only is UW the better school, we're the better team - 9th in the nation.

Haha, yeah, they did. They shot like 65% from the field and we couldn't make anything. Oh well, we beat Gonzaga. WSU isn't a bad team this year. Haha, bad mistake to make....WSU is very very hated here at UW.
