Zelda OoT vs. FF VII [Archive]

Both are overrated, but I went with Zelda. Majora's Mask is just a much better game than OoT. And I prefer the SNES Final Fantasies over any of the PlayStation titles.

FFV hands down. Both sport incredible gameplay for the time, but FF7 has a much more engaging storyline - not to mention fantastically written characters. I actually cared about what I was doing, which was generally more than just bumbling through consecutive dungeons.

This is tough...

The gameplay dynamics of the 3D Zelda games have been vastly improved in subsequent titles, I find OoT a bit odd to play these days. There are older and newer Zelda games I prefer. It certainly set a new standard for that time and blew my 13 year old mind.

FF7 did the same, but I've found it to be a far more timeless game. It has such an incredible story and is still one of the most moving and enveloping gaming experiences I've had. Best battle system next to the job classes, not sure I've loved an RPG as much since.

I get the feeling more people simply played OOT than FF7. This is coming from a bit of a Nintendo fanboy... FF7 is better.

Haha you have good taste man. OOT is what got me into Zelda games (as i'm sure it did for a lot of ppl here) and it's easily my favorite series now. I've only just started to work my way back through the FF games, but even as far as RPG's go I'd rather play Fire Emblem over FF so far.

I never got into Final Fantasy. I never liked turn-based RPGs aside from Final Fantasy Tactics. Ocirina of Time is the main reason why I love nintendo.

Ocarina of Time is a better game than FFVII, but I think that the Final Fantasy series has been much more consistent and produced a much higher quantity of great games than the Zelda series.

Isn't that the sick twisted truth, you'd think after all these years and times replaying the game that the water temple would get easier.

I chose Zelda, it is awesome, I love FF games and all but I agree with them being over rated.

Dude, if anything you gotta play LoZ : A Link to the Past for SNES.
And play it through the whole way. challenging , awesome stuff

Well coming from a person who has played both games an endless number of times...I am going to go with FFVII. I have never played a game that made me want to drop everything in my life more then FFVII did. The characters and storyline top zelda entirely, but dont get me wrong I fucking love OoT, that game is so god damn fun. It just with FFVII there was just so much more to do between collecting summons/weapons/limit breaks/secret characters.

Oh and I cant believe im seeing people say that FFX was better then VII. Personally that game pissed me off more than anything, it doesnt compare on any level. So F that noise...
