I know it's no where even close, but it looks to be confirmed!
And I just wanted to make the thread. haha

Pixar is fucking my shit up with sequels. No one needs Cars 2.

Don't see how they could do a Pixar movie without a villain, so I'm interested just not sure how they can make an good sequel since the ending was so perfect

billyboatkid
06/09/09, 11:22 AM
Yeah I think they would be fine without a Cars 2, but Monsters Inc. 2 could be awesome.

billyboatkid
06/09/09, 11:25 AM
I don't really even remember the first one.

Supposed to be watching it with the girlfriend this week.

While I absolutely love Monsters, Inc., I just don't see the purpose of sequelizing this. I don't want Pixar to go the sequel route, it typically just weakens the overall quality of the series.

Cars made so much fucking money off of their toy line. When I worked at Wal Mart they would sell out in two or three days.

It's like I said in the Cars 2 thread, they have a backlog, and they're working it off.

Yeah I really hope they don't go the Disney route with shitty sequels.

Good thing Toy Story 2 was awesome as shit.

True, all Pixar movies sequel or not make bank.

But I think TS2 was a great and worthy follow up. Hopefully 3 will deliver.

I'd rather see a Monsters Inc. sequal than an Incredibles. I just hope that Pixar does justice with their sequals, but they haven't done any wrong yet.

Toy Story 2 was just as good as the first.

My favorite Pixar, and maybe animated, movie of all-time. Ah, I'm all for it ... simply because they have yet to fuck up once.
not big on ratatouille or cars, but i'll be god damned if there's another franchise that has 8/10 A+ movies.

Just An End
06/10/09, 01:14 PM
I really don't think this needs to be made.. the ending to the first was excellent

And Cars 2? The fuck?

But I loved Toy Story 2 and I'm sure 3 will be great too.. the Toy Story characters are so memorable that I'll go see Toy Story 10 if they get that far

I think Toy Story pulled off the sequel route just fine. But as a whole, I agree with fluke182. I worry that sequels will just take away from the greatness of some originals. Not to mention some movies end perfectly (monsters, inc.) that there really isn't a need for them. I'd rather see more originals.

I watched it a couple weeks ago and thought about what if they did a sequel and if we'll get to see Boo grown up (or still a kid). But it was a perfect cute ending. We'll see.

06/17/09, 02:59 PM
Nothing about Monsters Inc. showed that it demanded a sequel. It was all pretty wrapped-up and self-contained to one story. Toy Story could do it because you have alot of issues like growing up and whatnot, I just don't think they can do it with this. Let classics be classics.

true, but with that said i don't see a sequel bringing the original down with it even if it does suck. the original will always be classic so i'd like to see what Pixar has up their sleeves for the follow up

i have a 2 year old that loves monsters, cars, and toy story. so any news of a sequel to any of them is awesome.
i took him to see up in the theater but there was literally about 30 minutes of previews and commercials before it started. he was bored, ate all his m&ms, and wanted to leave before the movie even really started.
and with that he just asked me to watch monsters again.

I read a quote from the head of Pixar on the subject of Cars 2, and it said something like "If we have a great story, we will have a movie." I trust Pixar that all movies will be good. It is always about quality.

But it ended so perfectly, and made me cry. I'm afriad of it being all "Ohh Boo is older blahblahblah" not happy. The Cars sequel makes sense because of how crazy little boys went for the toys. The Incredibles 2 could be good though.

The day they make a Finding Nemo sequel, that's when you know Pixar is going downhill.

Exactly. Cars was by far their worst from where I'm standing, but still significantly better than most of the junk within its genre.

Clearly they waited until they felt they had a solid script with a story worth telling. They wouldn't greenlight it otherwise.

“The film is a prequel that tells you a little bit about how [Mike and Sully] first met, attending Monsters University,” Hollis told theater owners gathered in Las Vegas on Tuesday for their annual CinemaCon convention. “Obviously everybody knows at this point Mike and Sully are amazing friends — the best of friends — but as it turns out, in this story, that wasn’t always the case. From the moment they met at university, they could not stand each other. This story takes you through the ups and downs, and how they overcame their own differences.”

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/03/29/pixarmonsters-inc-sequel-is-actually-prequ/
and it's now called Monsters University and will come out late next year

sounds good, even though I don't see how Boo can fit into that story

Plus scenes where they scare kids are better than scenes where they would be making them laugh

FallenEmpyr
03/29/11, 11:30 PM
A prequel? Awful idea. This movie needs to pick up exactly where the first one left off. I know everyone wants to know what Boo looks like and everything, and like someone said before Boo wouldn't even be able to be involved in a prequel which that fact alone would make this movie not very interesting. Just my opinion of course.

Word. Prequel...Sequel... I don't care as long as there's another Monsters movie. The first one is Pixar's best film IMO.
